A 32 year old man named isiah brown was shot by a deputy after responding to a domestic violence call. Brown was taken to a local hospital with serious but not life threatning injuries. The same deputy had taken brown home just an hour ago after responding to another call of a disabled motorist, The deputy took brown home from a gas station and then an hour later the same deputy shot him. Brown wasnt armed but pulled out his phone and it was mistaken for a gun and shots were taken.
Multiple attorneys had said that the shooting couldve been avoidable, That there was no way that you couldve mistaken a cordless house phone for a gun. The officer told dispatch that Brown had a gun to his head and the deputy told Brown many times to drop the gun and then a series of gunshots rang through the phone. Bodycam cam shows that this couldve have been prevented and the officer is on administrative hold as he is almost gone from being a sheriff.
Do you think you wouldve mistaken a phone for a gun?
How ironic is it that he gave him a ride just an hour ago and then shot him multiple times?

This is more of a summary than a "hot take". I want more of your thoughts and voice in these summaries. You also could have replied back a few more times. -10 late one day
I don’t think I would have mistaken a phone for a gun, they don’t even look or feel the same. I get if you accidentally pull out your taser because that looks more like a gun. Even then you should not mistake those two things. You are a trained officer and you don’t want to be making those kinds of mistakes. I think that it is crazy that the same officer that gave him a ride an hour later shot that same guy.
I do not understand how you could mistake a phone for a gun. They are very different shapes and just by a simple look at the object you should be able to determine whether or not its a gun. I can understand why he thought he might have been reaching into his pocket for a gun, however, he could've taken a moment to realize it was not a gun. Just a simple look and this whole situation could've been avoided.
No beucase my phone would be in my pocket not in a gun holster so no i dont think i would mistaken my gun over a phone. I think that it is sad how he gave him a ride then then a little bit later and shot him.
Id hope you wouldnt put your phone in a gun holster your just asking for trouble then
I don't know that is a very hard situation because you are scared as the police man and you have to make a split second decision on if it's a gun or not. I think that is very weird how he just gave him a ride then killed him. It's a very tough decision for cops because they have to make decisions in very short times.
Most cops are scared for their lives, but thats what training is for. If you arent progressing the way an average individual of your actions in the heat of the moment there is no reason you should be a cop.
I think that it is sad that he had just given him a ride home and then ended up shooting him. Yes the officer could've made the mistake and thinking his phone was a gun but that had to be a quick glance and it could have been in the heat of the moment and he thought that he was pulling out a gun instead of his phone.
Personally i cant believe how ironic that is, although it is horrible could you just imagine how embarassing that would be. Having recognition for helping a civilian and then shooting him an hour later.
I think it is sad that this man was shot especially if he did not have a gun and the entire situation could have been prevented. I understand that in the heat of the moment when he reached into his pocket the officer was worried that he was pulling out a gun.
