Up in Flames!

California governor Gerry Brown declared a state of emergency in Napa and lake county's and another one in Amador and Calaveras  county's late Sunday due to a wildfire. thousands of residents are running from it as it has swallowed up hundreds of home and is destroying everything in its path. The fire has now claimed 65,000 acres or 101 square miles. along with all of this destruction 4 fire fighters were sent to the hospital with 2nd degree burns, they were some of the first to respond to the fire, not prepared for what it turned out to be. The state of California is now making residents of Cobb, Middletown, Harbin Hot Springs and Big Canyon Road evacuate because the fire is heading directly towards them.  Now there are about 3,000 fire firefighters fighting to put this flame out before it engulfs and more homes.

  • Good topic choice! I do think your question could have been better to bring about more discussion. Also, be sure to reply more frequently!

  • I don't know if you could ask if they can get it out in time. I'd say it's already done too much damage, but hopefully they can put it out before it cause much more destruction.

  • I think it's really hard to stop a wild fire. Because they can get very huge and so it's very hard to stop them. But I hope that they can stop the fire before it gets any worse.

  • thats right fires can spread quickly but this fire is spreading very quickly because of the drought, everything is dry

  • I think that wild fires are a very scary thing to deal with because it can spread so quickly and is very hard to stop. It seems like no matter how hard firefighters try to control them, they last a long time and is deadly to anyone or anything in it's path. I hope that this fire will be put out before it gets any worse, but again, they're really hard to stop and control from getting in the way of people.

  • Yes they will put out the fire in time because all fire has to die out eventually and since there are 3,000 firefighters they just have to do their jobs, stay at it until the fire has died out or been put out.

  • I think it's horrible! Especially in California where we barely have water! I hope they get the water out in time without too much damage!

  • I think they will be able to get it out in time because with teamwork, anything is possible. They will take risks to get it out because they will do anything to protect the people they love.
