A citizen's income, or a universal basic income is a government-guaranteed payment that each citizen receives. There are multiple pros and cons based on your opinion. The pros are that it would completely destroy poverty and help millions of families pay their bills or buy food for that month. Workers could wait for better jobs to come up, whether than starting one right away that might not have the best income. People wouldn't have to worry about taking care of family issues instead of working. With this money, new couples could start a family with the confidence that they need. Many countries with falling birth rates would have the extra help to raise those numbers.
However, there are many cons to this. Inflation could be set off, due to the demands of items, such as goods and services. There would not be many houses available due to the inflations of prices. With money from the government, workers would see work as optional, creating more unemployed workers. Again, due to inflation, these small payments won't really make a difference for those in poverty. So what do you think? Should we have Universal Basic Income?

2) How do you think it will affect people in the United States?

No. I believe we should work for our money and not for it to be given to us. Also a major flaw in this is that the government would have to increase taxes on a lot of things and we would have to pay for it. So if we do that wouldn't we just be doing the same thing, but it's in the name of the government instead of us? Also people can wait for better jobs, then who is going to do those jobs? If we didn't have people to low paying jobs then we wouldn't have anyone who was rich, because they got rich off of us. It will affeect us negatively.
Financial help from the government is not by any means a new idea, and if the government can go about doing this idea in a way that will be beneficial to the lower working class, I fully support it. Americans, especially of the middle-lower class, have been in a rough spot for the past few decades, and if we want to keep people healthy and happy we should probably look into more financial aid.
I don't think we should have universal income because it gives people a by for not having a job while others have been working their whole lives for the money they've earned. I think it may help poverty and would give those a chance who are homeless to reset their lives and get a second chance.
I believe we should, because like you stated, it would cause the economy to boom and help couples start a life of their own which could be paradise and it would help everyone buy residential buildings or perhaps pay for college tuition. This event could both be the downfall or the uprising of society. The people of the US would need time to adjust to this new payment. Who knows how long that would take but eventually we would adjust to it.
I don't think we should have universal basic income because then people wouldn't be motivated to go to work or try to get a job because the government is paying for their needs. If it would happen in the United States I think that people would not use the money correctly.
We should not have a universal basic income. Even though it would help people in poverty, it would take away work ethic. Why would people work when the government is giving them free money. If there are people in poverty getting free money, then that would take away from the people who work hard for their money. There are already many programs set up to help people in poverty too.
I agree with you. It would take a lot of the work ethic away. I think we need that in order to make the goods and services we have a success. I also agree that people would not want to work. They are basically getting money for free by not doing anything. Overall, I agree that a universal basic income is a very bad idea and should not happen.
I think universal income is a terrible idea. Univeral income would pay people who are choosing not to work, with the money from people who are working hard to earn their money. If everyone is being paid by the government, it's almost a communistic idea.
I do not think that we should have universal basic income. I believe this because it could cause the homelessness to increase because houses could be very expensive. I also think, like you said, that it could cause unemployment rates to increase.
In my opinion, I think that universal income is not the best idea in the world. I think it will make people lazy and not willing to work for a job. I also think it could affect the economy in the long run. I do not think having universal income is a good idea. I think the system we have right now is by far superior. I do not think we need to change it up.
