On Thursday, January 23, Ukrainian riot police made a detained protester get out of his clothing, and stand out in the snow as the policemen took pictures of him and physically abused him. He was forced to pose with a piece of metal tubing while one of the police officers took out a camera and said, "One for the memory books." And if that wasn't harsh enough, other policeman came up to the man and kicked him in the leg. That day it was 14 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 degrees Celsius) Later on, the police apologized for the "inadmissible action" that they had performed.

Do you think that the Polices apologies were sincere? What do you thing happened to the prisoner once the story got out? Do you believe that bizarre punishments like this happen a lot in Ukraine?

  • Well done Ben!

  • No, if they were sorry about something like that they would have never done it. he was humiliated by the other prisoners. maybe if people are that cruel there.

  • There should be two new requirements for law enforcement officers, Intelligence, and decency. It certainly has not been tried yet.

  • I think that cops usually get away with a lot of stuff like this, but every now and then, some one gets it on tape, and they suffer the price.

  • I feel like these weird punishments happen more than they should over there. There are other ways of punishment but you don't need to do punishments like this. I also don't think the apologies were sincere.

  • They should be fired because that's soo bad!

  • This is funny but it is also super illegal, if I was that guy I would be suing and pressing charges because that is just awful

  • Wow I can't imagine this being legal in any country.  Hopefully the cops will be fired.

  • The officers shouldn't have the ability to do this. This is a terrible thing to do. The man could have got frost bite or something worst. I hope this kind of thing doesn't happen often in the Ukraine.

  • I agree, physical punishment is one thing, but completely humiliating the man, and making him freeze in the cold was absolutely unnecessary.
