Tree cover in United States cities is shrinking. Studies from the U.S. forest studies last year found that we lost 36 million trees annually over a five year period. A Forest Service scientist said "If we continue this path, cities will become warmer, more polluted, and generally more unhealthy for inhabitants."
Trees have lots of benefits in our world, some including heat reduction, air pollution reduction, energy emissions reduction, water quality improvement, flooding reduction, noise reduction, protection from UV radiation, improved aesthetics, improved human health, and wildlife habitat. Hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, insects and diseases are some reasons our tree canopy is declining.
A reason for tree loss that humans can control is sensible development. For example, many places that use to have trees are now covered in parking lots, biuldings, and houses. I think that people should do what they can to help keep as many trees as we can, because they are very important to have in the world.
What are your thoughts on tree loss?
Do you think people would notice a change in the enviroment if we continue to loose more trees?
Do you agree that trees are important and we should try to protect them?

Good topic choice Caitlin! I do think your summary is a bit brief and you only replied to one person. You should have replied to everyone with only one page of comments. Commenting is worth 30 points.
I think that while it's important to protect our environment, It's also worth noting that most of the deforstation happening is not parking lots, but farmland. As the population increases, so does the amount of food needed to sustain it. We need more famland to supply food to the growing population, so the only real way to reduce deforestation would be to prevent people from having more than 2 children. Weird, huh?
I think that tree loss is a really bad thing. I belive that it will take a little while for people to notice a big difference in the environmemt, but I think it is a real possibility in the future. I think trees are very important because they help keep the environment clean.
I agree with you that trees are very important and we need them everyday. It is sad that we are losing so many in just 1 year. If we do keep losing this many trees, there will be very large consequences following after. We should all try and do our best to help stop the loss of trees. Even the smallest things could help stop this on going problem.
That is a crazy amount of trees gone in just a year. I think we should definitely do something about this because like you said there are so many benefits from trees. I think people would notice a difference. People are already talking about climate changes and this will not help. I do think trees are important and should try and protect them and plant even more.
I think the amount of trees being lost is ridiculous. I think it is very important to protect trees and people should think of the long term effect before killing the trees. There is definitely going to be a change in the climate like you said trees have many benefits and I personally do not want to see what would happen without them.
I of course agree that trees are very important. They help provide us with oxygen to breathe as well as all of the other great reasons you listed above. I think that if we continue to lose trees at the rate we are now, we will start to notice changes, like poorer air quality, both visually and health-wise. Trees are definitely very important, and we should try a lot more to protect them.
Yes I totally agree, trees help alot with our breathing and with fewer and fewer of them, we could notice changes in our health. With fewer trees, there would be more air pollution and air tempetures would rise because trees also help with hot tempetures.
