Tyre Sampson

Many have heard that the life of a fourteen year old boy has ended. The boy's name was Tyre Sampson, who was in Orlando Florida for spring break with the company of his family. Sampson's family lives in Missouri. Tyre was six feet five inches and weighed 300 pounds. Tyre had a passion for football since was young. He was known to be a kind-hearted boy and was loved by everyone.

As we know, teenage boys can get excited over little things. Tyre and his friend decided to get onto The Free Fall ride. It was 11 P.M once they got to the ride. The Free Fall ride is the world’s second tallest drop tower. The ride is standing at 430 feet tall. It can fit 30 people, it rotates while it makes itself to the top before dropping. Drops down to speed up to 75 miles per hour.

Before the boys and everyone else who was going along for the ride. They settled down onto their seats and put the shoulder harness down. Other riders were questioning the protocall. The ride didn’t have an additional seat belt for extra protection. There has been an investigation on a twenty-one year old boy named David Kaminsky. Who didn’t take his time to ensure everyone was safe before falling down the 430 feet. When the drop tower began everything seemed to go as normal. Once, the tower dropped Tyre, who wasn’t strapped down, fell 225 feet down. He was rushed to the hospital and shortly died because of the injuries. His life ended the night of  March 24, 2022.

The ride is closed as they are investigating further. Tyre’s father mentioned how he kept mentioning how something didn’t feel right and he had a bad feeling before the ride took off. People were thinking that his size could have affected the accident. Which is the workers job to make sure everything is safe before starting any rides.

This tragedy is awful knowing their family has to go back home from a vacation without their son. There are still questions about this and investigations going on to know why this happened.

What would you want to do if this was one of your family member?

What should happen to the Free Drop Tower company?

  • I think this company should be sued or shut down due to the fact it's unsafe. It could have been prevented if the worker wasn't so careless. If this was one of my family members I would be very upset and sue the company.

    • Yes, it's something that could have been prevented. I don't see why the worker thought it would be okay to start the ride without making sure everyone was safe.

  • I definitely think that the Free Drop company should be sued or get shut down. Since it was an accident that very easily could have been prevented. If this would have happened to someone in my family I would have sued Drop Tower company for sure.

  • I think they should be suied and that they shouldn't be aloud to make anymore of the free fall/drop rides. I would be so upset if it was my family member or a close friend because they should have looked into getting seatbelts instead of just having the pull over harness. This kid didn't deserve to die and I feel bad for his family because if they knew this was gonna happen they could have stopped him from going on the ride

  • The Free Drop Tower company should be sued. It is their job to make sure everyone on the ride is the right size and safely strapped into the ride before they take off. If this happened to my family member, I would sue the company. There isn't one good reason not to sue the company.

  • I would probably be nervous about it as a family member because of how dangerous it is. I would probably go after the company because of their lack of procedure and safety.

    • Yes, the company is going to get sued which is the best thing to do. Also, they could have stopped this from happening.

  • I would probably freak out if it was one of my family members. The workers didn't check the safety things that were set to protect people from things like this happening. I think it sucks that the parents keep re-living the nightmare because there is a video of the boy falling on the internet everywhere.

  • I don't know what I would do because it's such a freak accident and I feel like when it was late at night like that I don't think it would be very safe. I think maybe the drop tower company should be sued for not having the best safety, especially for the world's tallest drop tower.

  • If I had a family member die on a freak accident ride like this, I'd definitely sue the company. Even if Tyre was too big to go on the ride, the workers should have noticed this and asked him to step off. It's completely their fault if they did not follow the proper protocol and resulted in Tyre's death.
