Tyre Sampson

Many have heard that the life of a fourteen year old boy has ended. The boy's name was Tyre Sampson, who was in Orlando Florida for spring break with the company of his family. Sampson's family lives in Missouri. Tyre was six feet five inches and weighed 300 pounds. Tyre had a passion for football since was young. He was known to be a kind-hearted boy and was loved by everyone.

As we know, teenage boys can get excited over little things. Tyre and his friend decided to get onto The Free Fall ride. It was 11 P.M once they got to the ride. The Free Fall ride is the world’s second tallest drop tower. The ride is standing at 430 feet tall. It can fit 30 people, it rotates while it makes itself to the top before dropping. Drops down to speed up to 75 miles per hour.

Before the boys and everyone else who was going along for the ride. They settled down onto their seats and put the shoulder harness down. Other riders were questioning the protocall. The ride didn’t have an additional seat belt for extra protection. There has been an investigation on a twenty-one year old boy named David Kaminsky. Who didn’t take his time to ensure everyone was safe before falling down the 430 feet. When the drop tower began everything seemed to go as normal. Once, the tower dropped Tyre, who wasn’t strapped down, fell 225 feet down. He was rushed to the hospital and shortly died because of the injuries. His life ended the night of  March 24, 2022.

The ride is closed as they are investigating further. Tyre’s father mentioned how he kept mentioning how something didn’t feel right and he had a bad feeling before the ride took off. People were thinking that his size could have affected the accident. Which is the workers job to make sure everything is safe before starting any rides.

This tragedy is awful knowing their family has to go back home from a vacation without their son. There are still questions about this and investigations going on to know why this happened.

What would you want to do if this was one of your family member?

What should happen to the Free Drop Tower company?

  • Overall, well done Paulina! I am not a huge fan of accident stories as it leads to questions like your first question. I would also like to see more of your thoughts within your summary. +2 for being a new story but being an accident story.  I would have also liked to have seen you reply a couple more times.

  • This is very sad. His death was unecessary and I feel like more precautions should have been taken. I really hope that the family is pressing charges because something like this should never happen. I hope that the family members will be able to cope with this and that Tyre rests in peace.

  • I am sure the family will sue the company for killing their son. I would feel terrible if this was someone I knew. It could have been easily avoidable by better maintenance and security. It was a stupid mistake that cost someone their life.

  • I think that it may not be the workers fault. I think it is more of the ride company's fault for not having backup seatbelts for protection. I also feel liek his size had a lot to do with it. I think with his size they may not hav ebeen able to get the shoulder restraints tight enough to hold him in.

  • If it was someone in my family that this happened to, I would most definetly sue. It was the workers job to make sure everybody was safe and buckled and he failed to do that and as a consequence of his actions, someone died. It is also horrible that there is a video of a dead fourteen year old. The Free Drop Tower company should be shut down.

  • If this was one of my close family members, I would obviously grieve over the loss. I personally think that an investigation should be started against the Free Fall Company.

  • I think that if this was one of my family members or even a friend I would sue. The workers that were working the ride did not take the needed precautions before sending them up.  The seat was not buckles and the lights were not on in the seat. The workers claimed they checked and saw the light, but there is video proof of no lights on and the seatbelt being unlocked. They should have to pay this family a lot of money.

  • I think that they should have to pay large amounts of money to the family and that the ride attendentes should have to pay some too.  It is a terrible and easily preventable tragedy. If this was my child I would have been pissed and would defenitly try to get the company canceled forever.

  • I feel like the company of the Free Drop Tower should be sued. They need to be sure that everyone is going to be safe on a ride that can be so dangerous. This is an accident that should've been prevented and this death should have never happened. The family lost someone special and there really is no way the company can make up for it.

    • Yes I agree with you and also there is videos going around which would suck to see a loved ones video of them dying going viral.
