Two Injured In Youth Football Game Shooting

On Saturday night, in Fort Worth, Texas, adults were arguing in the stands of a youth football game. After the fight had seemingly ended, the son of one of the angry adults arrived to the scene and began to open fire with a handgun, reported by public information officer Jimmy Pollozani of the Fort Worth Police Department. Police didn't reveal if the son who had opened fire was one of the football players. A grown woman and young girl were hit by the shooter. The woman hit in the leg, and the girl only grazed on her back. Luckily, both are okay. Police were searching for the suspect Saturday afternoon, and have yet to find him.

Question 1: What do you think needs to be done to keeps guns out of the hand of people like this?

I beleive that gun laws should become much more strict on who can buy them, cracking down on backround checks and or mental disorders. I think that It should also be taken in to account that these people who own the weapons need to do the best they can to keep them out of the hands of anyone but themselves, including family or friends until they are proven fit to take on the responsibilities of the weapons.

Question 2: Do you think that all guns should be banned entirely? Why or why not?

I dont beleive that guns should be banned. First of all I think this because it goes against the constituional rights of Americans to have the right to bear arms. Although some might argue it would stop all of the shootings that have been happening such as this, I don't think making guns illegal will help to keep them out of the hands of people that will do illegal things with them. I think it will only hurt law abiding citizens, and render them defensless when facing such a situation where they might have to defend themselves.

  • Great job Zane!

  • I dont think it's who has acces to them but the fact that the son had acces to it shows that the adult failed to put them in a locked container. No because we still need a way to defend ourselves and even if we get rid of them criminals and people who weren't suppose to get them can still bypass laws and get them illegaly like they did before.

  • I think that maybe gun laws should become a little stricter on people but at the same time I do not think we shoud fully get rid of guns because that is just stupid. No I do not think guns should be banned lots of people who are smart with them are good and people that hunt are smart with guns.

  • 1.) I also do agree that laws need to be cracked down on, but they have tried this and failed. I do believe going into deeper concern would help, but people will still have ways of getting guns. I just think that also long as they take more precautions, they should be fine.

2.) No, I think that there just needs to be more precautions. I feel like a lot of people would get mad about this and really not agree. This would lead to problems and just cause everybody to hate everyone. I just think that they need to be more strict on the laws.

  • Nope, I am a hunter, and so are a lot of both sides of my family. I enjoy hunting and trap shooting, it brings me closer to my father and my brother because it is something we all share. It is also unconstitutional we have the right to bear arms, even if we need stricter rules of how we get them.

  • I do think that in order to buy guns people should have to go through a psych evaluation and a background check to determine if they should own a gun. I also think that parents should have a secure place to keep their guns away from children and tenagers.

  • i whant the guns that where in the kid hands  should not be alowed to be you yoused by kid or teenagers until they are the alegel age

  • It is hard to keep guns away from people like this because they will find a way to buy them whether it is legal or illegal, they are using it to break the law anyway. No I think people who haven't committed any crimes and don't have any mental health issues should be able to buy firearms.

    • I agree with you and also think that people with mental health issues shouldn't be able to buy guns, unless they have been through therapy and are not dangerous.

  • I agree with you, I think there should be stricter laws on guns and only letting people with the right mentle mindset be able to to handle guns. This could be hard but I can see it being more looked into especially after incidents like this one. I also agree with you that guns should not be banned completley, because there is actual use for them and banning them could cause trouble.
