Trump wanted to raise the minimum age to buy semi-automatic rifles, but there hasn't been much political support. Instead Trump is trying to push for firearms training for school staff. Americans can buy rifles from a licensed dealer at age 18, but from unlicensed dealers can sell rifles to people of any age. Trump said that it doesn't make sense that 18 year-olds can buy rifles. He thinks the age should be raised to 21. Trump talked about a new committee that would provide firearms training for school staff and would improve background and mental health checks.

Do you think arming teachers is a good solution to school shootings, why or why not?
I think it would be a good solution, but I think teachers should keep them somewhere safe. Like a lock box because all doors are locked so teachers should be able to get the gun before students are in danger.
Would raising the minimum age be effective for making sure students don't get guns?
I don't think this would be effective because people can buy rifles from gun shows from unlicensed dealers at any age.

Good job replying! I do think your summary could have been written better overall.
I feel like arming teachers has could be a good, but also a bad solution to school shootings. I think it could be good because the teacher could be able to protect the students, but the teacher could use the gun in other ways which wouldn't be a good solution. No, I don't think raising the minimum age would be effective for making sure students get guns because they could just buy the guns from unlicensed dealers.
I agree it would be good for teachers to protect students. I don't think teachers would use them in a bad way because they would have to go through a lot of training.
i feel like its a good idea but i also feel like it wouldnt be as efftive as it sounds becasue i dont think the teacher could pull the trigger if they neded to becase thats another human that they would be killing.
i dont think that it would be efftive to rase the minimum age beacue then they could just get other people to buy them for them .
I think the teachers should be trained and told to shoot the shooter in the leg or shoulder so they could still live. I agree people would have someone else buy the gun for them.
I think that certain teachers should be armed. Some teachers shouldn't be in my opinion because if an older teacher has issues seeing, or controling their reflexes then they should not have a gun. I don't think raising the age will do much because if 18 year olds want guns they will find a way to get them.
I agree only certain teachers should be armed and the ones that do should go through a lot of training. If someone wants a gun they would find a way to get it.
I think it is possibly a good solution if students are comfortable with teachers having guns. I think a better solution is having security guards in the school that are proffesionally trained. I think it would help a bit; however, most of school shooters are older and well out of high school and not afraid of committing any crimes.
I think it might be, but it's not the only solution we can to prevent shootings. I think it would be pretty effective.
I agree it wouldn't be the only solution. I disagree because raising the minimum age would only effect licensed dealers. So 18 year olds could still buy guns from unlicensed dealers.
