In light of recent events, there has been more talk of whether teachers should or should not be armed with concealed weapons at school. Trump commented on the topic during a listening session with parents and survivors of school shootings saying that an armed teacher “could very well end the attack very quickly.” Expectedly, he later tweeted the follow-up comment that “highly trained teachers would act as a deterrent to the cowards that do this,” and suggested that these teachers should get paycheck bonuses for taking on such responsibility. There are varying opinions from government officials, teachers, and parents, but they all have the common goal of protecting the children.

1. Do you think teachers should be armed? Why or why not?
I am not against arming teachers, but no teacher should ever have to be armed even if he or she would be qualified to. If a teacher wants to be armed, I think it comes down to the specific situation. There is also talk of having trained officials at schools instead which I don't think is a bad idea either. I would also like to point out that just because a teacher has a gun at school, doesn't mean that he or she has to use it even if a situation permitted.
2. If teachers were armed, to what extent should it go, or how should schools go about it?
It should come down to the teacher's preference and qualification. It might be a good idea to start by having a firearm at the school in general like in the superintendent's office.

I think having some teachers armed would not necessarily be a bad thing but if too many teachers are armed, or if the wrong teacher is armed, it could just produce more issues. Ithink if teachers were allowed to be armed, it should definitely be only a few teachers in the school that have extensive background or training with firearms.
I think that teachers shouldn't be armed, but they should at least be qualified if the teacher wants to be armed because you don't want a teacher to be not qualified and then do something bad when something happens like this school shooting. I don't think that teachers should be armed but have people who work for the school that have more power than the teachers.
I think trusted and knowlegded teachers should be able to carry weapons in schools to protect from school shooters. They should choose teachers that know how guns work and how to reposible use them.
I personally am against putting guns in teacher's hands in classrooms. I think it could make thing worse making it more accessible to kids who are unstable and need mental help. I think if there was to be a gun in the chool give it to the Principal or Superintendent and have it heavily protected.
I do think teachers should have a gun in the room. But also locked up to were that teacehr can only get ot it. If a teacher wanted to be armed they would have to go to the classes. They would also have to have a bakeground check.
I am against arming teachers because of the risks involved in that. I know students are suppossed to trust their teachers but you never know what they could do. It does seem like a good idea to stop any shooters going throughout the school. I think that if they were armed that the guns should be put away and concealed properly.
I think teachers should be armed to proctect not only themselves but us too. I think they should only be armed if a situation calls for it but they should be trained and have backgrounds checks and many tests to prove they are qualified to carry. I think it should be determined based on the techers decision and how comfortable they feel with carrying.
I think that teachers should not be armed but should be trained in self-defense. If there were teachers that are armed, we don't know the full extent of what some teachers could potentially use the guns for. Mentally ill teachers could threaten kids or even harm them with having guns in schools.
I feel like teachers should be armed at school under some conditions. Well first off they have to know what they are doing with a gun. Teachers shouldn't be forced to have guns in there classroom if they don't feel comfortable with it. If teachers don't know what they are doing they should go through a class. Also, the gun had to be somewhere safe so kids can't play with it, or act stupid.
Not all teachers like I said have to keep a gun in there room. Everyschool should atleast have one gun but the teacher had to be close to an entrance or it just doesn't make since to have the gun.
