Stock Markets across the the whole world rose Monday after the G20 Summit in Argentina. This was due to the fact that President Trump and General Secretary Xi put on hold on the current trade war that has been going from earlier this year. Both of these leaders met for around two hours, after plenty of tough talks on trade deals during this year. After this meeting, both leaders proclaimed this a success, with Trump agreeing to pause the addition of stricter trade measures for the time being. The differences, although currently few in number, are quite odd, as it results from seemingly a breakdown in communication, such as after this meeting, Washington D.C. reported that China would be purchasing a influx of agricultural products, whilst Chinese Reports spoke none of this. Another breakdown seems to be in Trumps 90-Day plan, as Trump says that it has only been postponed, and China reports of no further tariffs being imposed, implying that Trump's 90-Day plan is over, which is not the case. Both sides stated after this meeting that is was a "great honor" to meet each other, and are both hopeful that this trade war will cease in the near future.

Do you think that these differences will cause something big?

These issues are certainly not too difficult to solve, but left unchecked, I think that they could turn into something far worse, and quite possibly make the trade war more harsh.

Do you think trump will change his mind of his 90-Day Plan?

Given enough reason to, possibly by promised economic growth, Trump will cease his action of increasing tariffs from 10% to 25%. I would assume that this would only be if the benefits outweigh the negatives.

  • Good job overall! I do think your questions could be stronger as they are yes/no questions. I also see that this was not posed by 8:05 on Monday. -5 late

  • I think that the changes could have a big effect on trade in the future, but hopefully the issues get solved before anything major happens. I don't think President Trump gives in very often so it would probably take a lot to get him to cease his action of increasing the tariffs.

  • 1.) This differences may cause some big changes in the future if we keep on making things better, but it could also make things worse in a way. 2.) I don't know whether or not President Trump will change his mind or not.

  • I think that if these differences aren't changed then after a while they could possibly become larger issues. I think he probably will eventally change his plan, and I don't think there is anything we can do about it.

  • I think they could in the future but hopefully they get solved before anything more happens. I think Trump will stick to his plans over the 90 day plan but theres always a possibility he wont.

    • The differences they have are merely caused by a apparent lack of information. I really doubt anything will come out of this, but with Trump, you never know. I would mostly agree that he would stick to his plan, but if something changes that glimmers in Trump's eye, he will more likely turn to that. To say what that could be, I surely don't know.

  • I think that he may change his mind of the 90 day plan but it is highly unlikely due to him being as stuborn as he is. If he were going to change it it would be a surprise to many people.

    • You're right, Trump has built a demeanor as being a stubborn man, but in a position as high as that, you can't let a few small things sway your decisions, because one faulty action or sign of weakness means a lot in the government. I would also agree that him changing his plan would come as a surprise, because much of what he said going into this race for presidency has been sent from Trump as a possibility, if not already put in action.

  • Trade is always a difficult matter, but like you said if it isn't babyd then it would get worse. I think if Trump finds a better plan then he will change it but I trust he will try to do whats best for this country.

    • Yeah, trade is a difficult matter, especially when you have to deal with different values, which change from the U.S. and China, because what we see as fit and just may not carry over. I do agree with your idea that Trump will do whats best for America, because as president, that should be one of his top priorities.
