Last week a tree was planted outside of the White House by Trump and Macron went missing. A twitter user posted a picture of the yellow spot on the floor where the tree should be. It turns out that it was in quarantine until it could be examined for parasites, in case they would spread to other tree roots. There is a law which says it is mandatory for any living organism imported to the U.S has to be inspected before being planted. The tree will be planted again once it it cleared.

1. If you were the French President would you be offended that they would think that you wouldn't have already inspected it before bringing it to their country?
No, I understand that that is the law and it needs to be followed no matter what.
2. Do you think that this law should exist?
Yes, I think that a foreign country could attempt to bring a new parasite that carries a deadly disease, so we need this law just to make sure.

Good topic but your didn't reply to any student comments which is worth 20 points.
I wouldn't I think that it would have been better to examen the tree before it spread to other trees and maybe even killing them. I think it should be more like a precaution instead of a law. I think that it would be more safe if they would do it to all foreign plants.
I think that this law should exist. If the tree is infected, then it should be quarantined or get a new tree so it doesn't infect the rest of the trees on the property. You wouldn't want one bad tree to destroy the rest of the beautiful trees around the white house. Presentation is everything, especially for Trump and his team.
Not really. Just because the plant was clear of parasites in France, doesn't mean it picked something up on the way to America. I really don't think it is a big deal that the tree had to be inspected.
Yes. Different countries can contain a horrible disease that could not only ruin all of our plants but also harm the people in our country. It is better to be safe than sorry.
If I was the french president I think I would be offened because if i planted a tree with a president and they didnt take care of it, i think it would show me how much they care about certain things. If Trump knew he needed it inspected why didnt he do it?
With all the things that have happened around the world, I wouldn't take chances. This could be a major threat or just a small tree. We don't know until it is checked out though which is important.
I think it's just a safety procaution and the French President shouldn't be offended. I think this law should exist so disease cannot be brought over through plants and other species.
No, I understand that is the law and it needs to be followed and that is how it is. Yes, every law that this world is in place because something bad happened to make them put the lae in place in the first place.
I feel like I would take offense. It would make me think that they don't trust me and think I'm up to something. Afterall it is a law they put into place and cannot move around it. Therefore I would have to be understanding to some point.
No because it makes sense as to why they would need to check for potential parasites, and it also the law. I do think this law should exist because many foreign countries have parasites our trees are not used to, and if it were to spread it could be catastrauphic.
