I'm sure most of you know what happened to Trayvon Martin two years ago. He was shot and killed by George Zimmerman on the night of Feb 26, 2012. George Zimmerman was found innocent after a very public and controversial trial.

Some of you may remember that George Zimmerman was scheduled to do a public boxing match. The  boxing match was very controversial! Many people thought that he was using the match to become a celebrity. On Saturday, professional boxer Damon Feldman (Zimmerman's opponent) announced, through twitter, that the boxing match will not take place any more.  He stated that the feelings of the people close to Trayvon meant more to him than the boxing match.

Also on Saturday, hundreds of people gathered in the Miami Garden's to remember and celebrate the life of Trayvon Martin.  Among the crowd was actor Jamie Foxx, who gave a speech during the ceremony.

A lot of attention is being put on this case again after almost two years. Do you think it was a good thing that the boxing match was cancelled? Or should it still take place? Do you believe George Zimmerman is innocent or should he have gotten a more strict punishment?

  • Again, great summary but you only replied once.

  • I am glad the fight didnt take place it is good for zimmerman not to have to much attention I dont know why he would want it at a time like this. I dont know if he is innocent by I think that to fight for your life is what it is anyone would do it, and from this a death occured. I think it probably to alot for Damon to say know knoing he didnt agree with zimmerman but he made the right choice.

  • I think Damon did the right thing cancelling the match. He must be a very thoughtful person for doing so in honor of Trayvon. I'm not sure where I stand on his case because I really don't know much about it, but I feel like that he is guilty because you don't just randomly kill a kid.

  • I agree! I think it was a good idea he cancelled the match! If he was innocent does he really deserve a strict punishment tho?

  • I think that he should have gotten a more strict punishment. The case that found him innocent was ridiculous because everyone knew that he did it no matter who tries to argue it.

  • I think Damon Feldman did the right think about thinking about others of the family. I don't think Zimmerman is innocent at all, everyone knows what happened and he should have been put in jail for it.

  • I think that it is a good idea that the fight did not take place. He was only doing it for publicity. I think that George Zimmerman should have had more strict punishment.
