Trawler Sinks killing 54

On April, a trawler carrying 134 people sunk off of the Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula. Other vessels and aircraft were sent to receive the survivors. 60 people were rescued from the water, but 54 were found dead and 15 are missing. Researchers say that the ship had sunk from a hull breach from some kind of object, like a rock, underwater.

I think this is a tragic event, and it is good that the authorities arrived so quickly to save so many people.

  • Your summary is brief overall which could have impacted the amount of replies you got.

  • If I was on a sinking ship I would probably try to help the people who couldn't save themselves very easily. I would try to save other people and not just try to survive myself.

    • Its good to know at least someone would be there to save others.

  • If I were on a sinking ship, I would try to find life jackets for my family and I and try to leave the boat as soon as possible. You would think that events like this could be prevented because of the technology that boats already have built into them. I wonder how something like this could have happened because boats have depth finder things already installed in them, so I wonder if someone wasn't paying attention to it.

    • Well you have to put into reality that sometimes boats might not have that tech. or its broken.

  • If I was on a sinking ship I would try to remain calm because freaking out wouldn't make the situation any better.
