Train Derails in Kansas

More than two dozen people were hospitalized after an Amtrak train partially derailed while traveling from Los Angeles to Chicago early Monday. Five coaches of the Southwest Chief derailed just after midnight so around 1:00 am around 20 miles west of Dodge City.Of the 128 passengers and 14 crew on board, 26 people were transported to local hospitals. One man and woman who were thrown out of the train we later life lighted to a local hospital. They are now in stable conditions. 3 children were on the train but they weren't injured, but they were extremely scared. One little girl 6 years old stated she was on the train by herself going back home. So she felt scared and alone.

Later they asked for peoples opinions on how it felt. One man states that he felt no impact, it just felt like they were going of the rails. As the man that was immediately taken to the hospital in bad condition, said he wish he could see the future because he would have never gotten on the train.

Questions

1) If you were on the train and didn't feel the impact and later heard what happened how would you feel? Why?

2) If you were injured by this would you ride on a train again? Why or Why not?

3) If your daughter or son were on here alone and you heard what happened how would you react?

Opinion:

If I didn't feel impact or anything I wouldn't freak out too much. At least I wasn't hurt. But If I were to get injured I would probably still ride one because most things only happen once. If my child were on this train and I heard I would try to get to him/her as fast as I can. I would be scared.

  • Great job!

  • Youre having a pretty unlucky day if your train derails. This probably wouldnt stop me from riding a train in the future. I would be a little scared if my kid were on alone when it happened.

  • It really wouldn't bother me to much because if I didn't get hurt then I really wouldn't care. I would still ride because that a really small chance of that ever happening again when riding a train. I would be scared to know that they were on there and they could be hurt.

  • I would feel scared because then I would know I was clearly hurt in some way. I would not take a ride on a train for a very long time that's for sure, but maybe after many years had passed I would consider it. I would be scared at first, but then relieved to know that they were okay and were going to be able to come home.

    • But riding a train that derails is kind of like driving a car that goes off a road. You would be cautious but still take one. Very good

  • I would have been scared hearing about it because it could randomly outburst. No I wouldn't unless I had to because who knows if it could happen again.

    • It would have been a really scary experience.

  • This would be very scary, even if I didn't feel it. I would feel worried and wonder a lot of different things. It would definitely take a lot of time to be able to ride a train again, if I ever did...

  • I think I would be a little freaked out because I didn't feel anything and didn't know what was happening. I probably wouldn't ride a train ever again after being on a train the derailed. I would freak out and I would probably rush to wherever they were to get them. I would also sue the company or whoever was directing the train.

    • Most things only happen once again just think if you crashed a car you would ride in it again just be cautious
