Town in Pennsylvania banning candy?

Every year West Chester Pennsylvania has a Halloween parade. This year the officials decided that they aren't going to be throwing out candy this year. The reason that they aren't going to throw the candy is because they fear that kids will fight over the candy and get hurt. The officials want each of the kids that go to the parade and leave with a fair amount of candy.

Instead, candy will be handed out in four "distribution centers" to make sure that everyone gets the same amount. One of the officials is blaming the kids that get the most candy to cause the change in procedure.

Do you think as many people will show up to the Halloween parade this year?

Do you think this is a good idea?

I still think there will be a lot of people there because some families go to the parade every year, but I don't think there will be as many people there as previous years.

I don't think this is a good idea because for many kids that is what they want to go to the parade for, and if they take that away, the kids might not want to even go to the parade anymore.

  • I think the same amount of kids will show up regardless of the new changes. However, I think it is quite pointless to just distribute the candy. It takes away the enjoyment of beating your siblings or friends to the candy thrown. I understand why they're doing this but it just seems like a waste of time.

  • I honestly dont know they probably will because kids love candy no matter what so the parents are kinda of forced to go. I mean i get why they are doing this but there isn't really any fun into getting the candy now your just getting it handed too you.

  • I think the party will have less people because the the ban but I guess we will find out. I do not believe its a good idea, i think we should teach kids to eat healthy, not force them.

  • Well adults yes but kids I can't say because I been in parades and I was handing out candy all I heard from kids was CANDY!! from them the parents might force them to go but not watch. Well if they do what we do is hand the candy to kids not throw them so each one has a fair amount.

  • I think people will still show up because there kids are still getting candy but its just going to be in a fair way so every kid gets the same amount of candy. I think it is an alright idea because if you have a little brother and you got more candy than him he might feel upset and cry and be annoying.

    • I've had that happen to me where I got more candy and had to share with a sibling. I disagree that the idea is a good one just because I think it could be handled differently. I do see the purpose of doing so though.

  • I still think that people are going to show up at the parade. just because they arent tossing candy isnt a goood enough reason to make them stay home. and i also think that this is a good idea its safe and fair.

  • 1.I dont think kids will enjoy it at all with no candy being able to hold their attention.

    2. I do not think this is a good idea.

  • I think people will still  show there town support but they probably wont have as good of a turnout then in the previous years. I think that they are doing it to try and help but it probable wont help their turnout.

  • No because the fun in a parade for a kid is getting your sacks full of candy. I think it is dumb, kids are not going to get into a big fight and start punching each other. If they did their parent would be right there.
