Total Human Head Replacement in our Future?

People that are paralyzed think that they have no way of being "normal" again. Same thing with people that are brain dead in a hospital. Doctor Sergio Canavero says that they might have a chance. He is trying to convince people that he can replace their whole head and they will have a second chance of life. Most of the people he is getting requests from are mostly transgenders who want a new body, but he wants to work on the people who are suffering before he gets to those people. He is wanting to do these procedures starting in 2017. He has tried this before (on monkeys) and none of them lived more than 24 hours because of the dramatic changes their spinal chord and connections in their bodies had to make. Canavero is still saying that we can still do this, even today.

Questions:

Do you think he will ever be able to do this?

If you had something terrible happen to you, or if you had a fatal disease, would you do this?

  • Great job!

  • I think it might be possible but only with many more medical advancements than we have now and it would not be in just 2 years. I don't think I would because the risk would not be worth it and it might be painful and hard to get used to.

  • I would think it mite work later on when they can do more research on it. No because then you wouldn't be yourself anymore.

  • It seems almost impossible for this to work and hope it never does. Things like this are unnatural and insane.

  • When you start messing with these types of things is when it get's kind of scary...like something out of a movie. Its hard to say if this is possible or not but my first thoughts would be that it will not. I wouldnt consider this, even if I was i was paralyzed, it would be better than being dead. Some things just arent meant to be messed with.

  • First of all, I like my head very much and I intend to keep it. Second, you would be damaging so many other things in your body.. your nervous system, veins, etc. If you get a kidney transplant and your body rejects it, you could potentially die. That's kind of like getting a head replacement is except much more difficult and with a highly more probably chance of the person dying within the process of head changing or of the side effects afterwards.

  • He may be able to but it will take a long time for it to actually be able to work well. Also no I would not want to do this I would rather die than live a life where i cant do anything, and where i have to hear people judge me for it. So no i would not do this.

  • I don't even think I'd want to do this, I think this is weird and crazy... It's like, what would your family thing? This is crazy and I don't like it!

    • I mean, I get it if you want to walk if you're paralyzed, but the transgenders should rethink their decisions.

  • I honestly don't think that this is even possible. The process that this would go through is just unimaginable. Goodness, I would never do such a thing. This is just plain weird and just not right.
