Toilet Paper Crash

Randy Humble, an Idaho resident, was dropping toilet paper and streamers out of his plane during a Republican meeting. He died on the scene. He and another pilot were performing aerial tricks for the people and dropping the items were part of it. The plane either stalled, or reached a point where the speed and angle lost its lift. Randy was 60 years old. Not very old to die.
I have family members who fly planes. One lost his life in a plane crash, which is very unfortunate. I feel bad for Randy's family, they will be mourning his loss, and this is an unexpected way to go.
Small planes are much different that large commercial planes. You can only fly at a certain elevation, less people, etc.
Have you ever been in a small private plane? Would you like to if you have never been in one? What are your thoughts?

  • This is sad. Plane crashes seem to be more common with small planes because they are able to fly closer to the ground and there seems to be more room for error because they are little. I havent ever been in one but I do know a few people that fly planes. It seems pretty cool

  • just horrific.  I've ridden in a small plane before.  it seated 8 people. and yes it is very different.  a very higher margin for error.

  • I think that's scary. I hope that they find out what for sure happened. I wonder if the toilet paper/streamers had anything to do with the crash.

  • That is very sad. i have never been in a small plane but i have been in a big one and that even scared me. i don't know if i would be able to fly in a small plane i guess we will see if that ever happens!

  • I would not like to ride in a small airplane at all. Even when they are on the ground they don't seem safe. And watching them in the air is even worse. I would much rather be in a helicopter, they are a lot more safe. And i have ridden in a helicopter so i trust them more.

  • That is too bad, it must have been scary!

  • Im sad that he died. I would think that it would be very fun to fly in a small plane.

  • An airplane dumping out toilet paper in a croud would be kinda cool but thats sad that he died.

  • this story is verry sad and my grandpa has three small ultra light planes that he flys around all of the time that he built himself and he is very confident with his work.

  • That's very tragic, but not too surprising because small planes like that don't have very good safety records. Adding stunts and things like throwing toilet paper out of the window wouldn't help with that either.
