Tiny Baby

Her name is Melinda and she was born 24 weeks early weighing 9 1/2 ounces. She is one of the 3rd smallest babies in the world, and the 2nd smallest in the U.S. She is now 4 1/2 pounds and able to go home from the hospital.

I can't believe she lived, 24 weeks that really premature.

Any thoughts?

  • If this girl get in the world record books at least she can brag we she gets older that her birth was famous and paid off. That was a tiny baby 9 1/2 ounces wow that's like less than a can of pop weights. Her mom had to be happy to hold her for the first time. That must have been on nerves doctor delivering the baby.

  • woow 24 weeks early its like six months early.. this is impressive that she survive after that .. have babies that born like 2 months early and don't survive
  • Wow that baby had to tiny! But being born 24 weeks premature thats crazy! Hopefully the baby gets well and grows up with no problems
  • That's crazy. Human medical knowlegde is crazy. I mean that baby could never have lived if it weren't for everything the doctors know and stuff. I'm glad she lived, losing a baby is a terrible thing.

  • That is crazy!  My older sister is two months premature and I thought that was alot, I bet her whole family is feeling so thankful that she is alive and is able to go home!

  • She's a very lucky baby that she lived! It's too bad to think she may have a lot of health problems in the future though but if someone can go 24 weeks without holding there child they can make it through anything.
  • Wow this is a miracle! Shes a cutie! I hope she lives a long healthy life.
  • That is tiny! What a miracle! I'm sure the parents are overjoyed though, and rooting for their little girl, Melinda to stay healthy!
  • She is very lucky, hopefully she will not have any problems. It must have been hard for the mother not to hold her.
