Last Wednesday, our own school faced a called in threat and bomb scare around lunch time that led to a district wide evacuation. A few days later on Friday, seven other schools across the state received threats that had been called in around the lunch time also. Schools affected on Friday were Ankeny, Cedar Falls, Davenport Central, Davenport West, Sioux City East, Waterloo West, Wilson Middle School in Council Bluffs and Kirn Middle School also in Council Bluffs. Police forces and the Department of Public Safety are keeping an eye on the situation and working together to investigate these threats and see if they are some how connected.
A situation like this hits close to home considering what happened to our school just a few days ago. Do you think that there is a connection between the threats? Do you that schools should be concerned with what has been going on lately? How can schools across Iowa be better prepared to handle the possibility of a situation like this?

Great choice of topic!!
I think there could very well possibly be a connection between the foretold bomb threats, because of the time of day and area of the threats. I believe the schools should be very concerned but not lose their courage. They have to keep strong the ability to keep themselves as well as others calm and safe. Schools should be prepared by practicing the evacuations with the employees and faculty, and be more comprehensive, aware and on their toes when something like this does happen. Thankfully we have Nancy Osborn to prove my statement. <3
They could, more than likely, be all related. I believe that the schools should be concerned until the police finish the investigation. I'm not really for sure how the schools could prepare for bomb threats other than making sure to have an 'out' when it could happen.
I have a feeling that these bomb threats were connected. However, they may not have all been the same person. It could have been a group of people who planned the whole thing. In my opinion, our school's staff did a great job of handling the situation.
I never thought of that but there is a good possibility that it could have been a group of people working together! I think our school did a great job too.
This is so stupid and I hope they catch the person that was doing this and they have serious consequences.
Me too!
there is obviously a connection to who is behind the threats, and as long as a professional isn't behind it, the culprit should be found within a matter of months.
I think that there is either a connection between the threats, or just a lot of copycats doing it on the same day. I don't think schools should be concerned because threats aren't going to hurt anything except disturb the peace. I think that schools across the nation could do bomb threat evacuation drills.
You have a good point! We all have to keep in mind that thankfully these were just threats and not an actual bombing.
