The violent history of the big galaxy next door

Astronomers have pieced together the cannibalistic past of our neighbouring large galaxy Andromeda. I's next course is supposedly the Milky Way Galaxy. Experts have been keeping an eye on our neighboring galaxy after leaning that it has been "eating" other galaxies since it came to be. It is much bigger than our galaxy and has a more complex stellar halo then our galaxy. It has been feasting on smaller Galaxies for a little bit now and possibly will move onto larger ones. What do you think of this happening?

I think it's a bit freaky that a galaxy can eat other galaxies.

What do you think will happen to our Galaxy?

I don't think anything will happen anytime soon and probably some time in the future we will probably be able to travel further.

  • Overall, your summary is brief. Be sure to capitalize key words in your title. You also only replied a few times. With only two pages of comments you should have replied to most.

  • I think the universe is full of such cases which are hidden from our eyes. In my opinion nothing threatens our Galaxy, cause its so far from us

  • I think galaxies take forever to travel due to their immense size and isn't really on track for our lifetime. I think our galaxy will inevitably collapse at some point. Not in our lifetimes, but I think our death is inevitable anyways. It's nothing we can control in the first place.

  • I think it's something to worry about and scientists need to keep an eye on it in case it does come to our galaxy. I think that if it does come to our galaxy there might be a chance that it could "eat" our galaxy, and if that happens I don't know what to expect to happen to us.

  • I think its very interesting to find a galaxy that consumes other galaxies. I'm sure it's light years away and would be thousands(if not millions) of years away before the galaxy starts consuming our galaxy. We have a black hole in our center that is already eating at our galaxy.

  • I totally agree with you that this is really freaky, but I don't think this will happen anytime in the near future.  I think the Andromeda galaxy has many black holes around it so thats why it "eats" other galaxys. I think eventually our galaxy will be "eaten," but thats very far in the future.

  • I mean, yea its creepy and its terrifying but then again, Andromeda would be in here in like about 4 billion years. Which means, no need for panic! Well since our two galaxy will colide eventually. It will just be a mixer of our galaxy and the Andromeda Galaxy. The only difference would be the super-massive black hole in the center of out galaxy.

    • I do blieve that we might have a black hole. But it's still terrifying.

  • I agree that is is freaky that galaxies can absorb other galaxies. I think that it is a problem I won't have to worry about because I will be dead, but eventually I think our galaxy will collide with Andromeda which could be problomatic, but at the same time I think that we will be able to travel much furthur by then and therefore it won't be a huge problem.

  • This is absolutely a terrifying thought knowing that a galaxy that could possible destroy ours is headed for us. However, I don't think this will be an issue for a very long time and we have more serious threats to our world in present time. A galaxy eating galaxy coming towards us does not worry me right now, but it might in the future if it becomes a more serious threat.
