The real story of the christmas Truce is when during the first christmas of the war a few breif hours. during which men from both sides on the western front laid down their arms went from the trenches and shared food, christmas carols, games and comradeship. this truce was unofficial and illicit.many officers disapproved, they took strong steps so that it would never happen again. the truce was magical, further along the line, the two sides serenaded each other with carols- the germans sang silent night, the british chorus of the first noel. some germans lit christmas trees.
