As someone who has grown up in the livestock industry since I was basically born, I know how important it is to family farms to have a market to be able to raise livestock. Grain farming alone is not a sustainable way to keep a farm from going under. Very rarely do we break even off of grain alone. With the expenses of chemicals, fertilizer, seeds, machinery repairs, and for some, application of chemicals and fertilizers, it stacks up quick. With the repair price of a machine rarely ever being under $1,000, as well as seed, fertilizer, and chemicals equaling over $2,000 each, livestock farming is a great way to keep another income on the farm.
With family farms going under, and prices of everything going up, and plant based meats being produced its hard for livestock farmers to have a market for their animals. Yes producing plant based meats is more sustainable, it still takes grain to produce it. We can’t do this only relying on large corporation farms just doesn’t work. Agriculture is one of the most important parts of the economy, smaller family farms are one of the most important parts of this. 96% of all U.S. farms are family farms totaling out to over 2 million.
With most family farms in debt, farmers are a dying breed. A reason for this is the market for grain, and livestock because of science having now produced meat using plants, family farms are losing money, and being forced to sell out. There are pros and cons to everything including this, but in order to produce these meats, we need family farms. Not only are they part of the back bone of the U.S economy, they are also the reason we get to eat food everyday. Not only that, but we are worried about land for livestock taking over, plant based meats and productoin using this means that we are going to have to take the land for livstock and use it for grain.
Do you think plant based meats are good for the world?
Do you think its logical to be saying we need to be more sustainable and stop using land for passtures and confinments even though that land will eventully be used as crop land?

Plant based meats are good in some ways. However, it is more important to keep farms alive to keep producing food for the people. I do not think plant based meats are good for the world because they hurt farms and the economy.
I think there are some pros to plant based meats but in general I think most people around where we live like the taste of regular meat. Also with the fact that if plant based meats take over many small farmers will lose so much money and won't be able to keep up with everything.
No i don't think plant based meats are any better for the world than real meats. I think the land we use for pasture land is fine and should keep being used as pasture land to keep cows healthy. I also agree with you that we need more farmers.
I think plant based meat are good in some way but as you said they also affect the farm family's with their income even though they have some benefits, non plant-based meats are more beneficial because they have more nutrients like protein that we need everyday. in conclusion i think they are not good for the world because it affects farms in general.
I personally think that plant based meats are not good for the world. Yes they are more sustainable, but the impact it would have on the farmers. thousands of farms would be devastated. Farmers would lose a source of income that is crucial for their living. Many farms would be shut down due to the cost of running it.
No, I do not belive plant based meats are good for the world because it hurts a lot more people than it actually helps. Although it is the more sustainable option I don't believe we need to stop using it for pastures because tons of family use farming as their main income source.
You are correct. Not only does it affect family farms reling on livestock for a source of income, but also the people working at the sloughter houses, packing plants, and the truckers hauling the products.
I feel like there is a way that plant based meat can be good for the world but regular animal based meats have nutrients that the human body need and plant based meats wouldn't have the nutrients
No its not, those animals in those pastures are what keeps the world healthy and supplies farmers with money.
Proper proteins that the body needs can't be properly recreated. The proteins in real meats last in the body last longer than any other protein source.
