The Mars Rover Mission

This year NASA landed a rover on Mars on February 18th, 2021. The rover's name is Perseverance, they named it that because they thought it would need a lot of perseverance. The mission is to further explore and get more scientific information about Mars. On the NASA page it says “study of Mars as a planetary system in order to understand: the formation of Mars, climate processes that have shaped Mars, [and] the potential for Mars to have hosted life”.Someday they would like to send humans to mars and they are looking for a good landing spot. They landed the rover on Mars like they did on the moon in 1969. Here is the website NASA mission to Mars.

The rover itself, Perseverance, has a lot of cool features that helps them get data, like it has a larger “hand” on the end of its robotic arm to hold a heavier suite of tools, including a coring drill. The wheels are re-designed for more resistance to wear and tear.

They live streamed the land and it was really interesting to watch. I think that if they find water on Mars, which they are hoping they do, then we shouldn’t go to mars. Yes, it would be really cool to go to mars, but we should work on earth and try and improve this planet.

Do you think they would find water under the surface?

Do you think we should go to mars?

  • I definitely think that there is a possibility that there could be water under the surface of Mars. I know that there is still a lot of unknowns on Mars and every other planet and we just honestly have no clue what they could possibly find. I think that it would be so cool that if eventually after everything is figured out if humans could go live on Mars. I don't know if I would want to go live there, but I still think it would be really cool.

  • I believe that far in the future is when we should make travel to Mars. it is highly unlikey for it to happen in our lifetimes but someday it would be amazing. Mars will likely  never be suitable for permanent human life, but small scientific missions will eb able to occur once we gather more information using Perseverance.

  • I don't think that they will find water on Mars, and if they do, it won;t be much at all. I don't know how I feel about people going to mars. I fell like it would be really cool to go there, but at the same time, it would be cool to keep it the way it is and don;t disturb it.

  • I think that we should look on going somewhere because eventually we wont be able to live on the earth because it will become over populated or we will end up using all the resources. We have to have a plan for the future and I think that mars is fine.

  • I think that it could be likely that they find water. They already know there is ice under the surface. At some point in time we will find water, but I don't think it will be enough to live off of. I think that we should go to mars. We have problems on Earth that we can't solve with resources from Earth.

  • I think that there is a chance that water would be found on Mars. There has been ice found on Mars before so the is a decent chance that there is also water. I do not think that we should go to Mars, in the case of going there to live. I think that going there to explore the planet is fine, but if people were to live there it could come with a lot of problems.

  • I think if they find water and continue to develop their technologies, someday we should go to Mars. I don't think it would be smart for the world as a whole to commit to that large of a plan, but eventually, I think inhabiting Mars is our next big step. It would be interesting to see people try to live there once they have enough materials and technology.

  • I agree with we need to stay on earth and work on it because haven't even discovered 95% of the ocean! why should we go to a different planet that only has 1% oxygen in the air. I don't think we should go to mars for those simple reasons. I just don't think going to mars is the best descision for earth at the moment. Maybe in the future but not now.

  • I personally think we won't find water under the surface, because in the past their was indication of water but that does not mean their is water there now. I also want to point out that the sun wouldv'e already dried up the water or Mars core wouldv'e so I believe their could've been water on Mars in the past but not the present. I think we should go to Mars to help further our understanding and to learn new things. Unfortunately, this is also the reason why I believe we shouldn't go to Mars because having more knowledge isn't exactly a good thing. I also fear if we go to Mars what about all the other continents and won't the power balance be tipped and their could be wars caused by this. Mars can be good and it can be bad, but it depends on how we go about it.

  • I don't think we'll find water on Mars at least not on the surface. I do think we should go to Mars to explore it more than what the rover will see. I don't think we should live or start life on mars or send lots of people there just enough people so we can see everything and know more about the planet.
