The Mandela Effect

The mandela effect is a popular conspiracy theory where a lot of people have a memory of something but then they look back and find it never actually happened. Theres numerous examples of this theory, one being that 9/11 actually happened september 10th. Another is that popular kids show and books "The Berenstain Bears" use to be the "berenstein" bears. Everyone says it was always berenstein so people think that its proof the mandela effect is real. A lot of people also say curious george had a tail. If you look now he doesnt have a tail and creators say he never did. So people are saying that as well is further proof of the effect beause people say they remember as a kid him having a tail. The biggest example that really kickstarted this conspiracy is the Nelson Mandela case. Nelson Mandela was a former South African president who supposedly died December 5th of 2013. Numerous people however say they remember him dying years earlier in prison. So it had a lot of people really confused and as an explanation they went towards the mandela effect.

There are a lot of different theories, two of the most popular are that we switch from different realities and that there are time travelors. Then there's the people that say that this is all just "false collective memories" or confabulation. Basically, if you dont know what those mean, they pretty much mean "honest lying". A person creates a false memory without intending to lie or deceive others. Instead, they’re attempting to fill in gaps in their own memory. Also, when you recall an event, it isn’t an accurate depiction. I personally think the false memory thing makes a lot of sense and probably is true for a lot of people. At the same time there is a lot of said proof that i cant help but believe are real. I also think its totally possible that there are time travelors changing things. Ive always heard growing up that in the future we are going to be able to travel to the future or past.

Do you believe in any of the examples?

Do you think there's time travelors and different realities(parallel universes) or this is all a product of false collective memories?

  • I've definitely seen examples of the Mandela effect, but the reasoning behind it is mysterious. I don't think time travelers have anything to do with it because I don't believe in time travel. Also, why would time travelers make such miniscule changes that don't affect much? It's most likely a product of false collective memories, but it's still weird.

  • I don't know how to back up the reasoning behind the Mandela Effect, but I've definitely noticed things that would be considered the Mandela Effect. For example, I used to think that the Monopoly Man had a monicle, but he does not. I could say for myself that my memory is just bad, but I can't speak for a large population of the world.

    • Thats actually one of the most popular reasonings. You would be surprised to find out just how many people swear that the monopoly man had a monicle. You are right, you could say maybe your memory is just bad. The reason the mandela effect blew up and is such a popular conspiracy is because so many people supposedly have bad memories.

  • I think that the idea of time travelers is ridiculous because it breaks all laws of logic and it would suggest that all our decisions are premade, which would mean that there is no such thing as personal choice. That's not a reality that I would be able to live with, so I am absolutely, 100% sure that time travel does not, and caould not ever exist.

  • I think that it could be a very real effect and that its kind of awesome that this happens to a ton of people. Like over time peoples memories change i think but this is still crazy. I think time travel is not real because its a huge risk for a small reward in the future.

    • I kind of agree with you about time travel. And it really is astonishing how so many people have the same exact memorie when they say its wrong.

  • I've seen many videos and proof of the   mandela effect. I don't want to believe it, but it honestly makes sense. I don't know if it is really possible to time travel, so I don't believe that. Parallel universes just seems insane to me, so I don't really know what to believe.

  • i think its real if im going to be honest and ive seen some examples about the mandela effect. and ive seen it everywhere like in brands and stuff like that books and cartoons its pretty wierd not going to lie but i think that they just change it without telling anyone if you know what i mean. But i dont think time travelors are real like at all ill beleive it when i see one with my own eyes

  • I think that your brain is not remembering it properly, so yes i do think the mendela effect is real. If a lot of people remember it a certain way, its wierd but if only you remember it a different way then it wouldn't be a effect. I think it is more of false memorys, but it would be cool if there is time-travelers.
