In today’s day and age, many people have the false belief that the earth is spherical. While many people claim to have proved this fact with evidence, I don’t think that this is the case. I think that the answer is quite clear, and can be answered just by stepping outside: the earth is a flat disc shape.
The supposedly true thought that the earth is a globe began around 300 BC when philosopher Aristotle observed new constellations in the sky when he traveled to Egypt, indicating that the earth is round. Several other ancient and modern astronomers, philosophers, and scientists have come to similar conclusions using different evidence. Satellites that have been sent into space have supposedly taken pictures and videos proving the earth’s spherical shape. Many flat earthers argue that they are photoshopped or CGI, even though when these videos, such as the 1969 moon landing, were created, CGI and graphic editing capabilities would not have been able to produce those images. Flat earthers argue that evidence from space is not reliable, but there are many ways to (supposedly) prove that the earth is round from the earth itself.
One method round-earthers use to try and prove the earth’s ‘roundness’ is with a Foucault’s Pendulum. This device utilizes a large ball attached to a chain that swings differently throughout the day, showing the earth’s rotation. Flat earthers against this theory claim that the pendulums use magnets to convince people that the earth is rotating. One of the most common flat earther theories is quite basic: the horizon is flat. While this may seem like the case on the ground, going to a higher elevation can seem to almost immediately disprove their claim with the curvature of the earth becoming more visible. But when photos of distant skylines with tall buildings over water clearly visible are shown, flat earthers argue that this wouldn’t be possible on a round earth. Round earthers explain this phenomenon by saying that the water reflects the image of the buildings making the horizon appear flat, but many flat earthers seem to blatantly disregard this as well.

You are trolling a bit here which isn't really what I am looking for, but your summary is well written and you did a great job replying to students.
I think the Earth is round because of the photos sent in from astronomers over time. There is a curve dipicted in many of the pictures, however I can see how many can argue it. However I mainly think the Earth is round because the rest of the planets in the solar system are round, which is why it wouldnt make sense to say that the Earth is the only flat planet in the solar system. However hearing the reasons thqt flat-Earthers give is interesting to me. Great topic.
I believe that one of the main reasons for a person to think the earth is flat is either because thats what their parents told them, or thats what ancient myths say. I believe 100% that the earth is round. The bible talks about the earth being a round shape, and not flat. There is plenty of evidence and pictures out there proving the shape of our earth. Which is round.
I think that the Earth is spherical because all other planets are spherical and it would not make sense for just one planet not to be spherical. Their is also lots of photos from space stations that prove that the earth is spherical wich makes sense because every other planet is spherical.
I think that the Earth is round because there are so many photos and videos that literly show the Earth curving, but you belive what you want I guess. I think that people belive the earth is flat because they were told that by people they trust or because they are to stubburn to except the fact that the Earth isn't flat.
I think that many people belive that the earth is flat because of there parents teaching them over years that the earth is flat when its not but still there parents give them this false inforamtion and then those kids will tell there friends and then it just starts a whole chain.
Personally I think that the earth is round and he is why if you were on top of the tallest mountain in the world you would be able to see the actual curve of the earth and for many years scientist have proven many times that the earth is round and that it indeed is not flat.
I agree with you Cole. The earth is flat. Round-earthers have valid reasons to think the earth is round, but who’s to say they’re right. It doesn’t seem irrational for the government to feed us lies and say the earth is round. The government has lied to us before, so why wouldn’t they do it again? What if NASA found something up in space while exploring the moon that they don’t want us to see? This could be why they altered the pictures and made the earth look round.
I agree, it is no secret that the government has lied to the American people many times, so why would this topic be any different. I think that the official news that the earth is flat would send the world into such chaos that NASA and the government have no choice to keep it a secret.
I will have to disagree, many flat earthers are very avid in their research. They will do almost anything to prove their point. I understand where you are coming from when you say that all other observed planets are round, but have you considered that we have only been able to observe these planets from an angle where the circular disc is facing the earth, making it appear round? Just something to think about.
