The legendary music producer, guitarist, songwriter, singer, and frontman to the Heartbreakers, Tom Petty died on October 2, 2017 at the age of 66 years old. He was rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious and in cardiac arrest in his home on Sunday. He and his band had almost completed a recent tour at the Hollywood Bowl, marking the band's 4oth anniversary of the band. It's sad to hear about the death of someone who's music influenced many, and left his mark on the music industry for decades to come and go. Maybe you've heard a few of his songs or grew up to them, such as Free Fallin', I Won't Back Down, or Learning to Fly. He supported around 7 large charities including the Special Olympics.
What were some of his songs you liked, if any, and did you grow up to any of them?
Would you try and listen to any of his music now, or still go see the band perform, (if they don't disband)?

A song that I will always remember from tom petty was free fallin because that was my mom's favorite song and she always listens to that. I think I would still go and listen to some of Tom's music because he made such a mark on the music industry.
I remember some Tom Petty songs, but my memories are a bit foggy, but i mostly listen to alternative music, Panic! At the Disco, and anime theme songs because they're far better than the stuff that's on the radio today.
I know his one song named "Free Falling". That's like the only song I know from him, I mostly listen to rap. But, I might go check out more on his music. I know my stepdad used to listen to him a lot.
I enjoyed many of his songs but my favorite is Mary Jane's Last dance. Yes I used to listen to them in my grandmas car . Yes I still listen but I wouldn't go see them perform.
1) I loved and still love listening to Tom Petty's songs. I like all the songs that you mentioned. I also like "Don't do like that, Running Down a Dream, American Girl, Mary Jane's Last dance," and many many more. All in all he is a great singer/song writer
2) Well, probably not anymore because it would either sound different or things would change. Also, it would be different knowing that Tom Petty isn't there so it would be weird.
I did grow up with my dad listening to Tom Petty a lot. Some of my favorites were Walls, Free Fallin, and Learning to Fly. I would still continue listening to his music as I like his songs and the way he sang. I don't think I would have any interest in going to a concert without him there, though. It is very sad to hear about this.
The song of his that I know the most and grew up with is Free Fallin'. I don't think I will try to get into his music just because he died but while writing this I was looking at some of his most famous songs to see if I knew them.
I liked Free Fallin' like everyone does. I also enjoy American Girl and a few others. I grew up listening to a lot of Tom Petty with my family. I will still listen to his music, but without Tom Petty the band is just The Heartbreakers, not Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
I loved Tom's song, I won't back down, it always was a good song to listen to no matter what. I didn't always grow up listening to it but more recently I have been listening to it more often. I would definitely still listen to his music now but I don't think I would go to a concert.
