A 3 year old instagram video surfaced in which cardi b talked about drugging and robbing men. shortly after the video surfaced cardi b confirmed that the video was real and she apologized for it saying " i made the choices i did at the time because i had very limited options" she also added " i have a past that i cant change we all do" this has caused an outrage on social media spawning the #survivingcardib trend. many have also compared her actions to those of R kelly and Bill Cosby. some are even calling for cardi b to be canceled. cardi b has said that she felt that she had to do it to survive and saying that she feels that she has a responsiblity to not glorify such crimes. while many on social media seem to be outraged the media seems to be quietly ignoring this with only a handful reporting on this and the ones that do are saying that cardi b will likely get through this with her image intact.
1. Do you think that the lack of media coverage on this represents a double standard in our society?
2. Do you think that cardi b's reasons for doing this are justified?

Well done overall Kane. Be sure to include personal thoughts within your summary.
Well yes, there obviously is a double standard here because if it were a male celebrity who said that they would not have heard the last of it. I do not think any reason for something like that is ever justified, no matter the reason she had.
i agree that this is a double standard because if this was a famous man admitting to this he would be metaphorically executed by now
Yes, I do think this shows a double standard in our society. A cime is a crime and the punishment should be the same whether you are a boy or a girl. Wrong is wrong.
No, I don't think she is justified in her actions, she should get a job and pay her bills.
i agree that the punishment should be the same whoever you are and that she is unjustified
Yes I do not think that it is fair for Cardi B to get away with this jus because she is a women. R Kelly and Bill Cosby didnt get away with it when they did the same thing. A crime is a crime no matter who does it. Not at all she is just a normal person and everyone should get punished.
i agree that this is a double standard. though r kelly and bill cosby committed sexual assualt cardi b only robbed them so comparing her to bill cosby and r kelly is a bit unwarranted
I think since she apologized to the people, that she should not get so much hate because its in the past and not now. She isn't that person anymore and people should just leave her alone. Since it was so long ago, people should let her be and ignore the stuff.
she still admitted to a crime apologizing doesnt change that fact. if this was a man admitting to drugging and robbing women people wouldnt care if he apologized or not his reputation would still be ruined
but she still admitted to commiting a crime her apologizing doesnt change that fact
