As early as January this year wildfires have struck the Amazon. These fires are continuing today and don't show signs of stopping anytime soon. Local indingineous people are being driven out of the forest as the flames engulf what they once called home for many generations. The black smoke from the fires also shed darkness upon the coastal city of Sao Paulo. The fires are a result of the dry season which is occuring in the Amazon at this time, the wet season won't start till around November. The biggest reason of most people's concern is the environment being destroyed. Since rainforests contain fifty percent of the world's land animals this will cause major problems by losing habitats for these animals. The Amazon also produces about five percent of the world's oxygen which is also a problem for the world. Worse case scenario the Amazon could dry out and turn into a desert like the Savannah in Africa. Luckily French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are urging other nations to help out with the crisis at hand. To learn more click here.
- Do you think the U.S. should step in to help relieve the wildfires? Why or why not?
-I belive we should at least send aid to help the indigineous people who lost their homes to relocate or adjust them to life out of the forest.
- What do you think the future impacts of the fires will be?
-Long cleanup processes would be a costly problem, and the loss of habitat for species of animals could cause them to become endangered or extinct.

The fires are a bad problem, but nature has a funny way of coming around in a full circle. With every fire in an area, the vegetation grows back but the plants are better. The people on the other do need help and will need our help until the forest grows back.
I have heard a theory of the wildfires, and the Chinese have started the wildfires to make more farm land in Brazil, they have also been building roadways in the forests in the past years. In the 80's people would go down and farm the land there too, and this has been happening for years too that the Amazon forest has been shrinking due to more people farming the land there. I believe that the U.S should continue to help, but send super tankers to help relieve the wildfires, and contribute to the help. I believe that a negative future impact would be that there would be less oxygen in the air, there is really no positive to burning the Amazon. If they grow the same crops that we grow there would be a less demand and trade deals might not be at the best, because the U.S is known for our Ag markets so the markets would go down and the U.S would not have a good Ag market in trading crops. This all goes under supply and demand.
I'm not sure the probability of China starting a wildfire, but you bring up some great economic issues if we don't help relieve it.
yes becouse it is home to so many animail and it the earth no mater where it is i think we should step in and help
i think that it will be horble and tragic if it gets wrose and spreeds to other parts
I think that the US should send aid because the fire won't just harm Brazil. The fire will harm the whole world because the Amazon Rain Forest creates a lot of our oxygen. Not only does this harm the environment this also means that if it were to happen again. the future would not be able to see the lush green span of different plants the rain forest inhabits, which will be very disappointing.
I think the United States Of America should step into the situation for many different reasons. One of the reasons is that its not just the Amazon that is going to be affected and its a world wide thing that is happening and we should help everybody who deserves it.
I think think there will be a lot of holes dug and trees planted, a bunch of super tall trees being cut down in one area is a good thing because it allows sunlight to get to the forest floor and allow new plants to grow and the new trees will grow fast and reach up to the sun.
I think the U.S should step in to help people or help stop the fires. If countries/people don't intervene, then the fires won't stop for a while. If most of the forest gets burnt down then a lot of animals have lost their homes. Oxygen could also be a problem, considering that the Amazon produces five percent of the world's oxygen.
I think the U.S. should help out with the wildfires because there are many indigenous people and different species of animals there who would lose their homes if the fires got too out of control. If the rainforest were to burn up completely many species would become extinct. A lot of new species are found there and we would not be able to discover them if the rainforest were to be destroyed.
That's very true and if it gets too out of control it could cause the rainforest to dry out.
