Recently a Texas mother began sending her child to a new daycare. On his first day she put a note in his lunch box that said, “Please tell (my son) that his mommy loves him so much and I'm thinking about him." When the mother picked her child up and opened his lunchbox, she found a disturbing message. The note she had written her son had something new written on it. The new writing said, “NO! Put him on a diet + GO AWAY!" She states that she was baffled after reading this disturbing message. She says her son is a very picky eater and has been trying to get him to eat healthier food. After the mother contacted the daycare, one of the workers admitted to writing the message. She was supposedly fired, however when CNN contacted the daycare the manager refused to answer the reporter’s questions.

  1. If you were this mother how would you react to the message in your child’s lunch box?

If I were this mother I would have contacted the daycare and made sure the worker was fired. I also would have pulled my child out of that daycare as soon as possible

  1. Do you think the daycare should fire the worker that wrote the message? Why/why not?

I think they should because you don’t say that to a parent or a child. It is extremely disrespectful, I think that if she really wanted to say it, she could have told a coworker or kept it to herself.

  • I would have made their life hard and been very public about the problem. Yes because antone who is willing to write a letter like that probably shouldn'e be working around children.

  • I agree that I would also contact the daycare and make sure the worker was fired. I would find another daycare to send my child to as well. The daycare should fire the worker because she had no reason to respond to the note and it was very disrespectful.

  • I would be bery upset if this would to happen to me and my child. I don't think that anyone should write such a mean note to anyone. Especially a mother who is writing a nice note to her son. I think the worker needs to apoligize to the mother and child.

  • If I was the mom I would have called the daycare to tell them about the worker, but I don't think I would pull my kid out of the daycare because most of the employees probably aren't like her. I think she deserved to be fired, because the mom probably pays a lot of money to send her kid to daycare and shouldn't have to deal with this.

  • I would be infuriated that an elementary teacher said this kind of thing to me or my child, I wouldn't believe that it had been said. I think they should fire the worker, an elementary school is no place to get bullied by teachers because the kids do it enough.

    • I agree. No adult shoudl say those things about a child. The initial shock of those words being spoken would have blown em away. The worker should be fired. That was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. No adult should say something like that to a child or his mother.

  • I would be very upset because another adult said this disrepctful message about my son and then told us to go away. Yes I think they should be fired because you just can't say that to an person and their kid, that is very rude.

    • I would also be upset. It's also extremely rude. The workers probably have no idea what is going on in that child's life and by them saying this could cause serious damage to the child. The worker shoudl be fired immediately. It's ridiculous that the daycare would not even respond to the news to report if the worker had been fired or not.

  • 1. If I were the parent to this child I would be very mad. I would go to the daycare manager and complain and make sure that the care taker got fired. I would also take my child out of that daycare and send him to a new one.

    2. I think they should fire the worker. Daycare workers are suppose to try and work with toddlers and they also have to have patience. It clrealy seems that this worker does not have any of those.
