There was a crash on March 1 in Florida, which left a Tesla driver dead after the incident occured. Authorities exposed the new details about the incident this last Thursday. The 50 year-old drive turned on Autopilot about 10 seconds before the devastating accident. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, The Tesla driver's did not have his hands on the steering wheel for less than eight seconds prior. The truck driver who was crashed into was injured, however, he did survive the crash. The NTSB's report did not blame the Tesla driver for the accident, but they said the investiagtion is still ongoing. The surprising news raised more questions about Tesla's marketing of Autopilot and the safety it promotes. Tesla does not yet have a self-driving vehicle yet, but they do promote their "autopilot" feature that does not act as a self-driving feature. A lot of people are raising concerns about the misleading information on the Tesla. To read more click here

1. Do you think that the Tesla driver is at fault for the crash? Why or why not.
- I think that he was probably misled and thought that the "autopilot" feature would drive the car.

2. Do you think Tesla needs to change their marketing for their cars? Why or why not.
- Personally, I think people have the wrong idea about their features and they need to explain and educate people on it so that other accidents are prevented.

  • I don't think it was necessarily the driver's fault. The information Tesla is giving to its customers can be decieving. The driver probably misinterpreted the information. I think Tesla should change their marketing to prevent things like this from ever happening again. Even though the information can seem vague, customers should take a closer look at it.

  • I do not think that Tesla needs to change their marketing because they clearly state in commercials and in other ads that the car does not drive itself it just has some auto pilot settings

  • I don't think that the Tesla driver is at fault because he was probaly just thinking that he was going to be fine letting go of the wheel for a small amount of time and didnt expect the car to crash.

    • I disagree. I think he is at fault for not reading into it and for trusting the autopilot on the first try. You're supposed to test it before jjust going for it like that and well it cost him his life.

  • I do not think he is at fault for the crash. Tesla should be at fault. They created the car that had autopiolet which led to the crash. The driver was just using this feature. I am 50/50. It it a pretty cool feature to the car and a look into our future. More cars are pry going to be able to drive themselves soon.

    • I agree I don't think that he should be at fault for the crash but I also don't think that the crash should be blamed on Tesla either its not them who led the car to run into a semi. I also think that other cars in the future will be able to drive themselves in the future because thats the way technology is headed.

  • Personally I think the company that created tesla is at fault for this crash. I actually don't think there should be any kind of autopilot where other driver is not controlling the car until there is enough advanced technology for something like that.

    • I disagree I do not believe that Elon Musk is not at fault the company states in ads and in other places that the car is not able to fully function on its own and that you should always pay attention when the car is moving in Autopilot. I agree I think they need to better inovate the autopilot feature until they have a majority of cars driving on their own.

  • It is his fault no doubt about it. I think even if it was a self-driving car he should have been paying attention because anything can go wrong especially if it's controlled by a computer. You just never know what's going to happen. I think they need to be more specific about what it can and cannot do with driving

    • I agree I think it is mostly his fault for the crash because he was stupid enough to not pay attention while speeding down the road and not put his hands on the wheel. I disagree with what they need to do with their ads because they state that the driver still needs to pay attention.
