On Thursday a Tennessee man was the first inmate in the USA to be executed with the Electric Chair in 5 years. This was because in 1984 he murdered 2 people. Most of the time when people are sentenced to the death penalty they are killed with injection drugs, however, Edmund Zagorski chose to be put to death by the chair instead. His last words while sitting the in the Electric Chair were, "Let’s roll", with a grin on his face. Authorities are not exactly sure what Zagorski was meaning by this but I think he was basically just showing that he was not ashamed of the people he killed and he was not going to die with people thinking he was a coward. WIth this new case of someone being put to death by the chair it causes many controversies to arise because many people oppose the death penalty law especially the Electric Chair method. They think that the death penalty is inhumane and goes against human rights. On the other hand others argue that the punishment should "fit the crime" if a person kills someone, they should be killed too.
What is your stance on the death penalty?
When it comes to the death penalty I think that if a person commits a murder then they should suffer the death penalty because they killed someone so it is only fair for them to die also.
What do you think that Edmund was meaning when his last words were, "Let's roll"?
I think that he was just showing that he was not scared to die. Also he could have just been trying to act cool and play off his death like it was no big deal.

Good job Ally!
I think that if you took part of a mass killing than yes you should get the death penalty but if you only killed atmost 2 people than no you should just go to jail. That he knew that we was going to die and that he wanted to go out with his last words would be good ones.
I disagree with you because I think that if a person only kills one person then they need to go to jail. I think this because one person is the same as multiply people dying becasuse it is still a person's life taken away for no reason.
I think that is fine killing people with the electric chair. But I dont think that you should be put on the death sentence list just because you killed two people I would rather let them serve a long term.
I think that if someone murders someone, then they should recieve the death penalty. I feel life in jail would also fit, just so they don't have the rights they did before they committed the crime. I feel he was just proving to the people that he wasn't afraid to die, and most likely didn't have regrets on what he did.
Thats a touchy subject because yes they killed someone but putting them in that chair you basically murdering them so does that mean you get the chair to? I think thats his way of just making himself feel better about what he is about to undergo he's preparing himself to die some people deal with things differently.
I also agree with you that this is a touchy subject however I think that if a person kills another person then they should suffer the death penalty. Also you brought up an intersting point of how him saying lets go is different why to get ready to die, but that could have been what he was doing.
In my opinion for people who murder someone on purpose and without regretting what they did it would be fair to sentence them to the death penalty to protect others and let them suffer from their own actions.
I think that he just wanted to express that he doesn't care and is not scared so the death penalty wouldn't "win" at the end and he also maybe wanted to impress the or show off through showing that he is fearless.
I believe that death penalty could be labeled as inhumane, but killing other people for no good reason is inhumane as well. Purposely putting killers to death is the right thing to do, I believe, but others would argue that letting them suffer in jail for the rest of their lives would be more reasonable because they'd be suffering for the rest of their lives. It's a very controversial topic. I believe that when Edmund said "let's roll," he was trying to portray the fact that he wasn't scared and that he didn't regret killing those two people in 1984.
I think that it is aweful that so many people have to die in these situations however since he took someones life I think that it is only fair to do. So I do think the death penalty is needed however, I wish that it would not need to be used.
