A 17-year old teen was just casualy strolling the streets of New York City when all of a sudden, three muggers roll up in a white car. The muggers leave the car while it is still running and then they sneak up on the 17-year old and take his shoes.  The teen chases after them, but it was too late. 20 minutes later, the muggers arrive at a sneker store trying to sell the pair. It wasn't long until the store employee realized they were fake. He told the three muggers, "They're fake, We can't buy them." The store employee said that if they were real Air Jordans, they would've been worth around $2,000.

New York City police released surveillance footage showing a teen being robbed of his sneakers during a daylight mugging.

Questions:

If you were a citizen on the street and see this incident, what would be the first thing you would do?

If you were an employee at a sneakers store, do you think it would be hard to tell if some shoes were stolen?

Answers:

If I were a citizen on the street, I would first try and help the teen. After that, I would take a picture of the license plate and call the cops.

I think that it would definitely be difficult to tell if shoes were stolen or not. I would ask questions to the seller to try and determine if they were stolen. Especially if three people are trying to sell one pair of shoes. It would seem a bit suspicious.

  • Well done! You could have commented a ferw more times.

  • If I was a citizen on the street, I think that I would try and help the person. If I was an employee at the store, I think it could be hard to tell in the shoes were stolen because I wouldn't normally walk around the store to see if any shoes would have been stolen.

  • I would chase after them and try to help the victem. If I were an employee I would know if a shoe were not on the shelves and wonder what happened to them.

    • I agree with your statement because I would definetly try and help the victim as much as I could.

  • I would try to help the boy and get his shoes back. I don't think that it would be hard to tell if they were stolen probably by the apperance of the shoes. Also them not knowing that they were fake, or that the shoes were worth $2,000.

    • I agree with the part about helping the guy out, but I don't think it would be easy no tell because you would look for real shoes or fake shoes, not if the are stolen.

  • I would've tried to stop the muggers and give the shoes back to the teen. I would record the lincense plate and tell the police. If I were in the sneakers store as an employee, I think it would be very difficult to tell wether or not they were stolen. The muggers would try to play it cool in the store.

  • I would obviously help them; I just don't know if I would directly go over there by myself and try to fight them off by myself. Probably the smarter choice for me would be to get me and other passerbyers to help and call the police.

    • I agree, it is smarter to get passerbyers to help you take down the muggers.

  • If I saw this happening I would probably go and try to help the person. I think it would be hard you would just have to take some time to find out if they are or not.
