On February 22 at Mckinney high two students were on video throwing punches. In another video their teacher stands at the back of the class recording the fight, not doing anything to stop it. The students were at the front of the classroom while the teacher stood in the back. The teacher made no efforts to break up the fight. Later, a student posted on Snapchat and Twitter the video of the teacher recording the fight with the caption "Even teachers record fights only at Mckinney high". The district is not naming the teacher in this video, but the video has been shared more than 1,000 times on social media. In result, the teacher was immediately placed on administrative leave and the students received appropriate disciplinary for their actions.

Why do you think the teacher recorded the fight instead of trying to stop it?
I think the teacher didn't care that the students were fighting and that he thought of the fight as a joke.
Do you think being put on administrative leave was a good consequence for what the teacher did, why or why not?
I think it was a good consequence, because what he did wasn't enough to get someone fired and the story doesn't say anything about other kids getting hurt in the fight.
If you were the teacher in this situation what would you have done?
If I was the teacher I probably wouldn't be able to stop the fight myself, but would have help from other staff members in the school.

I'm guessing that the teacher was just think the fight was a joke, a fight for attention basically, but obviously wasn't. Maybe he or she wanted feel like the students or something, but that is just crazy. He is supposed to help the students! I definitely think that going on administrative leave was a good idea; he needed some sort of punishment for what he did-- or actually what he didn't do.
1) I feel that the teacher thought maybe it was a joke or maybe they didn't like the student. ALso, maybe the teacher didn't really care about the job or even the student. Also, the teacher might have been tired of everything.
2) Yes, because teachers should be forming our minds not trying to take videos of students fighting. They should of stopped it.
3) I would stopped the fighting and walked them both down to the office.
The teacher probally thought that one of them had it coming or just didn't care. Yeah, if one of the students was severly injuried it would be on the teacher and the school for not stopping or preventing the fight.
I agree and I think that it is an easy mistake to make and it was a the wrong decision to make. I'm sure that he learned a lot from this and I hope that he knows that what he did was wrong. I do agree that if someone got majorly hurt that it should be on the teacher.
I think he may have thought it was funny and didn't really care what they were doing. I think it's a good first step, but he broke code which states that they need to break up the fight. I think firing him could be a thing.. he's a liability to the school now.
I think the teacher jsut didnt care or the teacher was trying to get evidence of the fight for later questions. I ithing administrative leave was good for the tacher because it was clear they didnt do anything. I would try and brak up the fight.
I think either A. The teacher didn't care about the situation, and/or thought it was amusing or B. The teacher recorded it for some sort of evidence, lesson, etc.
I think putting the teacher on aministrative leave was a good consequence, it's pretty simple the teacher didn't do anything to stop this fight, and didn't really set any responsible example at all, as a teacher should.
If i was the teacher i would have attempted to stop the fight in some way, getting help from others if needed. I would also probably use that fight as a narrative, to try and make sure things like that happen as little as possible.
If I was the teacher in this situation, I would have stopped it because that would be my job. Morally, I think sometimes, especially with boys, there will never be any peace between the two and nothing will be resolved unless the fight is carried through till one it is resolved; however, teacher's are supposed to stop violence so I think the teacher should have done something to stop it.
I think some people just get fed up in life and maybe he didn't want to work there anymore. Or maybe they thought they would of got away with it. There are many reasons or explanations to explain why they were in the background recording it instead of breaking the fight up. They shouldn't be fired. I think it was a good consequence because all he was record a fight and not break it up. If I was the teacher I wouldn't of done the same thing. But, I wouldn't be able to break it up myself so I would call in another teacher to help.
