  • Kira,

I think this is a great topic choice. With that said here are the issues:

-Be sure to capitalize words in your tittl.

-Be sure to eliminate spelling errors in your summary. Use Word to help and then copy/paste it over.

-Work on expanding your summary and also include your personal thoughts/opinions.

-Be sure to comment to student replies

  • Even though I absolutely hate when people sit or kneel for the National Anthem or Pledge of Allegieance, I respect everyone's 1st amendmant rights. The teacher should have handled this a different way and not let her emotions get to her.

  • I think what she did wasn't wrong. She had the right intentions but didn't need to go to that extreme. The student should have known the respect that should be paid during the pledge. The student brought it on themsleves for being disrespectful.

    • I agree with you that she had the right to stand for what she believes but was going and using physical force necessary i don't think so. WHat you said about the student is correct to we've said the pledge all throughout our school years you just stand and say it.

  • Why would she get to keep her license if she cant teach. She would at least be able to wait for a cirtain date time and time that way she canretake her test and second timeis when it should be taken away.

  • If i was the teacher I wouldn't know what to do. She was not in the wrong because the student was a subordinate and iinsubordination has to be punished. I don't thing she should've been punished so cruely. She didn't even physically harm him in anyway. Its just insane how we as people have become so emotional in the last few decades.

  • I think her intentions were in the right place but she shouldn't have been so harsh about it. We have the right to do what we feel is right but standing during the pledge is what you should be doing to show your respect.

  • I don't know if her actions can be excused but I feel as though her intentions were in the right place. I believe that any student has the right to do as they please and forcing someone to do something that they are against should be punishable but jail time is not what I haf in mind. Standing during the pledge is just common decency and it shows that you respect the nation that you are in .

  • There really is no point in letting her keep her teaching licenes because if they are going to take it away if she ever teaches again then that kinda defeats the purpose of having a teachers license. If I would be teaching a class and saw that one of my students wasn't standing I would either ask them to stand or have them go stand out in the hallway until we are done.

  • I do think she did the right thing. You should always stand for our nations flag and The Pledge of Allegiance. Yes, the teacher should not have forcefully grabbed the student. But, the student shouldn't have been sitting either. The article said the teacher was a veteran. So, to see one of her students sitting would make me upset also.
