Most people have heard of "doggy daycares". Although they're not as common where we live, they thrive in places such as New York City or Manhattan. The service called My Dog Hikes, whisks fancy dogs who live in apartments in the city for three-hour excursions in the New Jersey countryside. The service costs anywhere from $85-$130 a day and allows dogs to be unleashed-literally, in a 2,100 acre nature preserve. For your dog to join one of the revolutionary companies he has to be on a certified anti-tick medice and be able to follow commands. Even if your dog meets the criteria, there's an eight month waiting list though!
This service is really great for city dogs who live in a "very controlled, sterile enviorment." says owner of NYC Doggies. It's not your typical dogs though, they are often spoiled by their owners indulgent exspenses on them. One of these pampered dogs, an Australian Labradoodle, appeared in an activist campaign last year with model Gisele Bündchen. Some dogs not only take apart in this pricey hiking service up to three times a week, but go running with professional dog runners on their days off.

Q U E S T I O N S:
If you lived in the city would you ever sign your dog up for this?
I think if I had the funds to I would, reading about it I can see that it's a bit costly, but nonetheless it seems like a really cute and fun idea.
Do you think that it's too lavish of a lifestyle for a dog?
I don't own any pets, but I can imagine if you do that you really love them and want what's best for them. In the city dogs are confined to small spaces for 8+ hours a day, while their owners go to work. I think it's important to make the commitment to your pets to let them have good and healthy lives, and this seems like a top option for city people.

I agree with you that, it is a very creative idea for dogs. I also assume that the dogs think it's very fun and an opportunitiy for them to get out of their typical enviorments and interact with new and different people/dogs
if i had enough probbly but i think that thats lot of money to spend on somthing that the owners of the dog could do. I thinkt that might be a little to overwhelming for some of the dogs.
I think it's not necessarily something that the owners can do, they're doing this because they are at work all day and can't get out and have their dogs get quality time out side.
I wouldn't sign my dog up for this. $100 dollars for 3 hours is a bit pricey. It's not a bad idea to give your dog space for the day, but then again, maybe you shouldn't get a dog if you can't ever see it. Living in a small town with a big fenced in backyard with a doggy door might help, though.
It isn't too lavish, but I would hope to be able to take my dog on a walk every week if I had one.
I think that is a good point, that if you can't make time to give your dog the quality time and care that a dog needs or be able to finance help so your dog can acheive that .
I don't think I would sign up especially for this programm because it wuld be a little bit too expensive but maybe I would ask some friends if they could take my dog out if I wouldn't have the time or I would sign up for less expensive dog cares
I guess for the dogs its really nice to get out a few hours, play with other dogs and just be in the nature so in general I think its a good thing even if its kind of expensive
That is a great alternative to the service, is to find willing friends or family members to help you out! I think it is also very beneficial for not only dogs to get outside, but to interact with other dogs, like you mentioned.
Yes I think this is awesome, but Id be kinda sad I wasnt doing it with my dog, but glad they would be having fun while I was gone. I dont think so I think dogs love outside and these people are doing this to help the dogs feel like they are being played with and rewarded. If we had this here I would totally sign my do up!
I think that's a great point that I didn't even think about! The fact that you don't get to experience some of these memories with your dog, but I agree with you in thinking it's a really neat idea!
I may sign my dog up for the service if I had the funds and if I was gone all day due to work. I agree if you really loved your dog it would be great. In the city some dogs are left in apartments for hours at a time. This would be a great alternative.
