Surgeon General Urges the Public to Stop Buying Face Masks

Local surgeons say to quit buying masks because they are getting harder to buy and to get access to the mask when needed because they are in direct contact with sick people every day. They are also not able to get them because they are getting harder to buy them because they are getting shortages in the mask that they use called N95. But they are also applying that they aren't really helping you get protection from the coronavirus they kinda help you pass it on to another person. They commonly say to make sure you wash your hands and keep them away from your face as much as possible. The mask helps stop spit from a cough or other things coming from your mouth but they are likely to get it from direct contact then from spit droplets. 1.) Would you still buy mask even if you were told not to by the surgeons or other doctors? why or why not?

I wouldn't buy the mask just because we haven't had a lot of people in Iowa with the virus that we know of yet.

2.) Do you think the mask help stop the virus from spreading? why or why not?

No, because they said you would more likely get the virus if from physical contact with other people or touching your mouth face or eyes.

I wouldn't buy masks just yet but if the virus got to around where I live then I definetly would. I don't see why anyone wouldn't. I think that they will help stop the virus from spreading because the virus is spread just like how the flu is, through coughing or touching.

No because the docters are one of the smartest people to tell you not to do to get better. No because if someone has the virus they could touch you and you could probably get it if you don't realize that they have the virus.

I think I would stop buying mask so that surgeons or other doctors could be safer because they are more of the people that are sick. I think the mask might help prevent the coronavirus a little bit but if they say that I can spread through direct contact would not help that much I don't think. Hopefully they can find a cure soon so more people to be safe.

Personally I think this is kind of dumb for doctors to say to stop buying masks. I see their point that they may need them more, but they are not going to stop people. Hopefully the mask making companies can just find a way to make more faster because that is great for their business and bringing in money. I agree with you about personally purchasing masks. As we live in Iowa, I don't see much of a need to buy masks right now. I could see how some may think masks would help with spreading, but I feel like they can only do so much. I wouldn't really want to waste my money. This is just my opinion, take precautions and wash your hands.

I would follow the directions of the doctors because they know much more about the situation at hand and are worried about my health also. While the mask may prevent a small amount of spreading, the virus will spread and find other ways.

I would not buy a mask anyway, if they are not used correctly they do not help. The fact that there have not been many cases, if any, in Iowa just adds to the reason we do not need masks. If your just wearing a mask, it does not stop the spread of it by you touching your eyes or the mask.

I would not buy the mask because the virus is proven to be stronger than what the mask is origonally rated to withstand. The mask might stop from people who have it to not give it to people but you can get the virus anyday even if you have and wear the mask

I wouldn't buy the maskes if it doesn't actually help protect from the virus. Also if its causing a shorage of maskes for the doctors then we should definently stop buying so many because docters come in contact with tons of people and if they get the virus they can spread it even more. No i dont beacuse if you have a greater chance of gettig the virus from spit dropets then you should help out by not buying them.

I think if the surgeon and doctors are popular and well trusted, then I would not buy the facemask, because the doctors are well educated. I also would not just in case because the virus is not something we should mess around with and not take a risk with coming to the midwest around iowa.

I would buy masked just incase the virus does reach us, then  at least I will be prepared because at that time then theywill probably be all sold out in the stores. I think it will help a bit but I cant help people touching other and spreading it in that way.
