Student Loan Wiped

Rhea Shannon, who now works as a production assistant for a television channel. was a senior in collage when her dad was killed in Afghanistan, when he was serving as a United States Marine. The loss of her father broke her heart in not one but two ways. She was left with $54,000 dollars in student loans. After CNN posted her story on CNNMoney only two hours later she received a phone call from, Ashlynne Haycock. She works for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors also know ans TAPS. She offered to wipe(Pay) her student loans. Rhea was dogging calls in a bid to avoid her creditors. Rhea was in tears when she heard this.

How would you feel if this happened to you?

Would you pay someones student loans if you heard of this?

  • Good job!

  • I would be sad, but happy I didn't have to deal with all of the loans while I was being sad about a death. If I had a lot of money I would do something like this, but student loans are a lot of money.

    • I would be sad too and I would try to help someone pay off their loans. Just to help someone else.

  • I would be really upset about my father but a lot of students parents dont pay for their kids college so she should have been able to keep them and paid for them herself. Also no I would not help pay off her debts it wasn't for my college.

    • I would be upset too and it's a good point how you said that a lot of parents don;t help their kids with collage fees.

  • I would be very happy but she also lost her dad which is very sad and I wouldn't want that. That's great for her. I would help pay for them or do a fundraising.

  • I think it was a nice pay it forward to pay for her student loans. Student loans can be so high and hard to pay back.

    • They really are high and over $50,000 dollars is a lot of money

  • I would not know how to thank somebody if they did this to me. It would be so incredible because a lot of people struggle with that. Especially that much money.

  • I would be forever grateful to them.
