Marine Kills Transgender

A United States marine of the name of Lance Cpl. Joseph Scott Pemberton was convicted last Tuesday after the killing a transgender female last year while stationed in the Philippines. In August the Cpl. said he had choked Laude during a fight that erupted when he discovered she was a transgender woman. He also said he had left her in the shower and she was still alive when he left.  His lawyers said he should be Innocent since there was 3 kinds of DNA the first was his and the second was victim but third was not identified. Lance Cpl. Joseph Scott was sentenced to 6-12 years of jail time. Laude's mother, Julita, said she was not pleased with the jail term because she had hoped Pemberton would be found guilty of murder, a more serious crime than homicide. She also quoted "But the important thing is he will be jailed," she said, crying. "My son's life is not wasted.".

Questions?

Do you think he deserved more jail time?

  • Good job Oscar!

  • I think if you kill a human being, it should be life in jail. No exceptions.

    • I may not be a supporter of transgenders or gays but yes they are humans and it should be life in jail like you said no exceptions.

  • If he didn't commit murder, then 6-12 years is enough. I don't mind them, but it would take some time getting used to them. As long as they are happy.

  • I think he deserves more jail time. He should be charged with committing a hate crime.  I think that transgender people should be viewed as any other human being.

    • I agree with you and everyone that say he deserved more jail time. But some people just cant see that their just normal people.

  • I think he some sort of charge but he did say that it was alive when he left.

I really really dislike transgender's or any of those things. I really think that transgender people should not be allowed in the marines or jobs even.

    • I kinda dislike them myself but they should be allowed to get jobs.

  • I think he should be charged with something, obviously he had something to do with the murder. Whether or not he actually killed the person. I don't care about transgenders, like as long as they don't like try to get me to be one it really doesn't bother me. It's not doing anything to hurt me, it's their own choice.

  • I defiantly think there should be more time served because regardless of the gender that person is whether by birth or by choice they are still a human and have rights and no one deserves to be murdered.
