Samantha Iselt of Lexington, Texas drove her barrow to the winner circle. When judge Ryan Sites selected her Grand Champion the arena was filled with tears and a big round of applause. The judge noted that Samantha had spent a lot of time with her barrow because of the way they moved around in the ring. Her brother is her biggest fan and was so nervous and excited watching his sister drive the hog. The barrow was bred and owned by them which made the win so meaningful. Her brother Cody talked about the industry and how it is about the kids and not just the winning. Cody stated that Samantha has been showing for awhile and she is a natural at showing. The barrow sold for $157,00 and a $10,000 scholarship.
What would you do with the prize money?
Does this story inspire you to be a better showman or athete?

So the story did post. Good! Godo story choice and well done overall Madsen. Be sure to include personal thoughts within your summary and also reply back on three different days next time.
I would save this prize money for the future and use it for expenses such as a car, or part of a house. However, I wouldn't save all of it. If I won that much money I would use some of it is buy somethings that would be fun.
After going on a shopping trip, I'd probably save some money until I figure out what else to do with it. The biggest message I get from this story is to keep trying. Samantha has been a regular attendee and did what she loved, trying again and again until she struck a big prize for her efforts.
Winning this big of a show is like the Cheifs winning the supper bowl they work hard to get that far. It's hard to win this big of a show because they have a gate cut system if they do not like your pig coming in to the show ring you wont even show. So it's like practing all year for that big game and the night before you break your leg and can't play. They gate cut another 4,000 head of pigs before this show.
I have no idea. Probably donate it to charity or use it to help my family or pay for college. Well, I'm not really an athlete, so no for that one but I don't know about showman. Probably not because I don't want to be part of a variety show.
Showman are just like athletes we just go to the barn and work instead of the court. We work on our livestock everyday I don't play sports but working on cattle all night long in the barn is practice and then when we go showing thats game day. But you don't play sports but you still do something in your free time.
If i got $157,000 as a prize i would give some close friends and family some money that they could spend and then buy a house or a few older trucks and make them nice again. This story doesnt really inspire me to be a better showman or athete because it sounds like theres a good chance of not getting prize money.
If you don't work hard enough you will never get the prize money you will never get anything in life. Hard work isn't everything either theres always that rich family that can go buy that $12,000 pig pay someone to take care of it and the kid shows up and shows. It's just like race cars someone else builds your car and you race it.
if i would have gotten the prize money i would probaly leave some for collage but the invest it to stock and thong to try to make that 100k to allot more or to get some more money. yes it does becasue its doinv somthing you like and if your good you can get paid
You don't get paid to do this it's what you win. The livestock shows in Texas pay more to win because there is so much money in the south and it's so much bigger down there. I don't show livestock to get rich I do it because I'am passionate about it. I raise cattle to make money I rasie show cattle that make me money but the cattle we raise in this industry are extremely good.
