SpaceX sets Falcon Heavy launch date

Falcon Heavy is a new rocket that is set to launch for the first time on February 6, SpaceX anounced on Saturday. The buzz can be attributed to the Falcon's heavy weight. It will be the most powerful rocket in the world. It is built by SpaceX, the industry-disrupting rocket maker started by billionare Elon Musk. The Falcon Heavy will become part of the spaceflight history. It is capable to send humans to Mars. Although SpaceX has plans to build different rockets and spaceship system for Mars travel called BFR. It will also be the most powerful rocket currently working, and one of the most powerful rockets ever built. In NASA's history the most powerful rocket was the Saturn V rocket. Which was also used for the Apollo moon landings and was retired in the 1970's. The more thrust a rocket has, the farther it will travel and the bigger payloads.

For the first test, the Falcon Heavy will launch a dummy payload. Specifically, it will sned a cherry red Tesla roadster from Muck's personal collection into deep space. There is no scientific reason to send the car to space, but it does serve as self-promotion fro Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla. On Twitter he was asked why he wanted to throw away a $100,000 car, he replied "I love the thought of a car drifting apparently endlessly through space and perhaps being discovered by an alien race millions of years in the future". Once the Flacon has proven it can fly, the rocket will start doing real jobs. Sending satellites and other payloads into orbit. The rocket already signed up to carry three hefty telecommunication satellites into orbit. One for each Arabsat, a Sausi Arabia-based firm, Inmarsat, a British company, and Viasat, whcih is based in California. The rocket is priced at $90 million, which is 45% more expensive than the Falcon 9, the rocket that SpaceX used for every mission since 2012.

Questions:

1. Would you williing to be sent to Mars if the rocket proves that it is worthy to fly?

I would want to sent to Mars because not everyone is going to be able to get sent there and being of the first people to would be awesome and you could see things that no one would every see.

2. If you were the CEO of Tesla why would you want to send one of the cars in your collection into outerspace knowing that you will never see it again?

I would want to because I am probably making so much money that it will not effect me in anyway. I would want to send one from my personal collection into space because when someone or something finds it in the future they will not know what it is.

  • Your summary was basically plagiasrized. Be sure to summarize it better. This story had already been done by another students as well.

    Good job replying.

  • I wouldn't really like to be sent to Mars, because it doesn't really seem important. We know more about outer space than our own oceans on Earth. I just don't think people should be so foucsed about traveling to another planet when our own planet is suffering with poverty, war, and hatred.

  • Heck I'll go into space, I would not give up that chance even for a second. Although I might die awfully at least I'll die in an interesting way. And besides progress can't be made without risks. I find the car being sent to space rather funny and I will not question why he wants to send it barreling into space, I would probably do the same thing if I were that rich.

  • I would not want to be sent into space. I happy enough to stay where I am, on good ol Earth. If I were the CEO of tesla I wouldn't mind sending a car into since I would be so rich that the price wouldn't matter.

  • I think that many years and history has taught us that anything could happen, and Id rather not be sent into space unless their is a 100% garentee that I will make it back alive. If I was the CEO of Tesla, I might send on of my cars from my collection into space to say that I accomplished something much bigger.

  • yes i would that would be awsome but in the sme aspect i feel it would be very scary because we dont know if there are marsons living there

to say that i have the first car on mars or the first car luxury car in space

  • Yes, I would love to go to Mars! I am someone who loves to go on adventures and the feeling of having this opportunity would be great. I feel this move by the CEO of Tesla is kind of a weird move and really a kind of riduculous thing to do.

  • 1 I will  be willing to sent a rocket in mars because I think it is really important for us to know what things we have outside of our world. That way we can expand our technology and our knowledge.

2I think tesla is putting a car in this rocket because they want to be the first car in the space and it will give a lot of promo to the mark.

    • I agree with you because some people might want to find out how we can make things better in the world and help out things with people that might need it. Yes putting a car in space would help promote the market also.

  • 1. I would probably not want to go to mars because it will take years to get there and I wouldn't see my family or any of that for a long time. If I was the CEO I don't think I would do that beacuse it sounds stupid to me, I would just rather give it away to the Bendorf's or something.
