Recently a Buddhist statue carved from a meteorite that hit earth 1,000 years ago and was thought to be from the 8th- 10th century. According to an expert it was actually carved from the 20th century. There are several features indicating that I was made in Europe.
I think that there was someone trying to scam the system and they pulled it off.

That is weird that anyone would try and rip of something being a historical monument! If someone did pull it off I wonder how they would have been able to carve features into the statue that looked very similar to the 8th century yet is still identified as 20th century!
why would someone try to pull this off? If you carved a statue, why say its from the 8th- 10th century, and not just say that its from the 20th century?
I'm surprised that they just figured out that the stature was a fake. Especially with today's technology. It would be kind of hard to believe that a statue from a thousand years ago still exists today in good shape.
It is so sad that people try to scam important artifacts like this.
Why would you try to scam someone? You are more than likely going to get caught. I hope that the person who did this get caught so they dont do it in the future.
I wonder what it would look like if it was actually 1000 years old? I am disappointed for the man who lied about it and probably tried to make money off of it. I think a statue carved from a meteor is a new kind of art, "Meteor art". I would like to see it with my own eyes.
That stinks that something so cool be fake and that somebody would take the time to make it but maybe they made it honestly but it was probably just a scam or something that is part of this.
I don't see why someone would exaggerate the truth that much. I'm not saying it's okay to lie, but maybe they should've made the lie more believable. I'm glad that people actually looked into the subject instead of just assuming that the person who claimed it to be like that was telling the truth. It is a cool looking statue, though!
I'm disappointed but not surprised. Buddha statue made out of meteorite is just too good to be true. it is a beautiful statue and looks in good condition it looks like it can't be that old
