Somalia explosion: At least 80 killed

On October 14, yesterday, a car bomb struck the Somalia capital of Mogadishu. The first bomb went off causing a white building and others around it to collapse. Minutes later the second bomb went off. There are currently 80 dead and 200 injured. There have been no reported casualties from the second blast. Many Mogadishu monuments were destroyed including a popular motel. The Qartar's Embassy was also destroyed. A phone call tipped of authorities causing them to chase down a distraction car while the other two cars went off. The UK Ambassador reported that you could clearly hear the blast from inside the Embassy. There have been several car bomb attacks in the city during the past year. Most of them are being carried out by an al Qaeda-linked terrorist group.

1. If you lived within the city and heard about the many bomb threats, would you move somewhere else or stay and hope the governemt takes care of it?

2. If you were at the site when one of the bombs went off, what would you do?

I would move because not a lot is being done to take care of the threats and they keep coming. I would try to help people get out to somewhere safe and try to get out of the city limits. But, I would still help the city try and get back on its feet.

  • If I was near the location of where the bomb went off I would take shelter and take as many with me as possible. After, I would tend to those who need help and gather needed supplies for those who have nothing left.

  • If I lived near a bomb threat, you better believe I am clocking out of that town as soon as I could! I am not gonna stay somewhere where  I am in danger (or my family for that matter). I would never rely on the government to take care of that type of business (No offense).

  • 1. Move. Our world is to dangerous to "Live on the edge" and stay that close to danger.

    2. Run as fast as I could, if my legs were still attached to my body.

  • I would just pack up and leave no doubt about it i can't stand the idea of being under constant threat of  bombings. I say this a lot on these posts but if i was there and  heard the explosion i am going in the opposite direction.

  • Oh id move in a heartbeat, especially if they were in the same city that i lived in, but if i moved away for a while and the government took care of it i could move back. I would probably get as far away as possible.

  • 1. I would move out of that city and go to one of my family place to stay for a while

    2. I might freeze up then run the opposite direction of the bomb that went off.

  • 1. I would definently want to move somewhere else, but I guess if you think about it the U.S. has had many events like this and we stay here. 2. I would take cover because I wouldn't want to get hurt. When I was where I thought I was safe I would try to help out as many people as I could.

  • I would move somewhere else, because I don't want to stay somewhere where there are active bomb threats. I would try to get out as soon as possible, and try not to die, and help people along the way.

  • I would leave immediately with all of my family and close friends I think its important to be very safe and not take any chances, I would rather be safe. I would get to safety asap and  let everyone know and call people to help.

  • I would get stay and make sure nothing else like that happens again. Maybe report suspicious activity in public places. I like to make places safe for everyone even if it means risking my own well being. I would hope that the terrorists would be smart enough to move along instead of sticking around for another attack anyway. But I would be on high alert as I looked out for my neighbors and family.
