Social Ladders and Human Kindness

The one thing that has always been there in the background of everyday social life, the social ladder. It's what drives us to hang out with the people we connect to most. It's the silent force that compels us to try and keep up with the current trends. Even though social ladders are most prominent in schools, they are everywhere. They are in workplaces, stores, online, and even in churches. No one tries to include new people in their inner circle. While the different types of groups on the social ladder have changed slightly no matter where the social ladder is taking place, it's still the same concept. Populars on top and loners at the bottom with the middle varying depending on where you are. Nowadays, we have one social ladder we fall into no matter where we are because of technology. We have so many platforms to connect on and talk to people we never include in our day to day life but we don't  take that chance. Instead of encouraging each other we tear others down just to make ourselves feel better about our place in the world. There are a few people who choose to uplift instead, but very few. Why must we be this way as humans? Can't we just be nice to each other or is that too hard?

What do you use social platforms for? Encouraging or no? (Don't have to specify)

Should we change the way we use our connections to help more people?

  • While I want people to add their thoughts and opinions, I also want these to be research based a bit. What does research say about this topic? Also, be sure to bump it during the week so more people see it.
