Currently Starbucks has over 8,000 stores nationwide. About 200 Starbucks employes identify as deaf or hard of hearing. Starbucks plans to open a new store in Washington D.C. and will hire about 25 deaf or hard of hearing employes. The main requirement is that they must be skilled in sign language. Starbucks says this will boost both the amount of customers and the amount of available employes. The store will open near the worlds only university designed for deaf or hard of hearing students this is a campus of 1,900. The Starbucks will also be displaying art by a deaf artist. They will have a display that will walk customers through making their order. The chief executive of the National Assosiation of the Deaf, said American Sign Language is one of the most used languages in the country. He thinks this will have a huge productive impact on Starbucks sales.
Do you think by Starbucks doing this that it will have a big impact on their amount of sales? Why?
I think that by Starbucks opening this store it will not only get more deaf and hard of hearing people to go there. But I also thing that if people hear about what they are doing that many people will like the decision they made to open this store.
Do you think that these deaf or hard of hearing Starbucks could become as common as regular Starbucks? Why?
I believe that there is no way they could possibly open as many deaf stores as regular store. But I also did not know that sign language was on of the most used languages so it could possibly happen.

Well done Jacob!
I think it will because then it helps deaf people order there drinks faster and people actually understand what they are saying because they are in the same or similar condition that they are in. I think they should become more common because it will help them.
i believe that there will be a big impact on starbucks amount of sales. It will lead to more deaf to hard hearing people to be able to go there. I also think that maybe more people will have respect for the starbucks by even thinking of something like this. I believe that they will not be quite as popular as a regular starbucks, but i believe that it will spike an increase in these starbucks.
I think that it will boost the amount of sales because a lot of people enjoy starbucks and it maght be a cool experince for other people. I don't think this will become a trend because most starbucks arent by deaf schools.
I see what you mean about it being a different experience. Maybe people would try and learn some sign language so they could also go to these other types of Starbucks. That makes sense why they put it by the school so I understand why you think it won't become a big trend.
Im not sure if one store will make that much of a difference but it will help that store out for a little while but im not sure if it will constantly be booming with business. I think if they do do this in moer places than just one there is a possibility that more people will go to Starbucks because they can actually tell people what thy want.
Yes I think that it will have a big impact on their sales because before deaf and hard hearing people couldn't go to starbucks and now they can. And I don't think that they would become as common as regular Starbucks. There are more people that aren't deaf to people who are. But since sign language is one the most used languages then there is a possibility that it could happen.
I think it would be a big impact for starbucks, and it would get them more customers. I think if other people unerstand what they are doing that other people will start going here and give them more tips for all of their hardwork. I don't think they would be able to open more deaf starbucks tehn regular ones. I feel like there isn't that many deaf people that they could have working at all of these places.
I agree with what you are saying on how they will get more customers. But I really like that you said people might leave more tips because they like what Starbucks is doing. It does make sense that finding enough people that speak sign language would be hard because not everyone wants to work at Starbucks.
Yes because with more deaf and hard of hearing people going to Starbucks, their profits will increase because more people will be spending money there.
I don't because it'd be hard to open that many more stores and it'd cost a lot of money.
