Should we keep undercover/unmarked cops? There are many makes and models of police cars. Some police cars don’t identify as cop cars. Some have squad car, response car, public safety car and many more names. Though those ones are marked, and can pull you over, are unmarked police cars really necessary while having all those other ones?
Overall, undercover policing has been a very effective route in policing. Undercover police cars control the movement of traffic. When people know there may be a cop they tend to follow traffic laws better. When no cops are easily seen, they loosen up on the laws. Having unmarked police cars out can worry some people into obeying the laws. Many crimes tend to happen where police cars are not. Having unmarked cars can secure the area better and catch criminals. The use of unmarked cars may seem unfair, but it ensures safety for the public.
Many people do not enjoy being pulled over, especially when it is by someone who they didn’t even know was around. Unmarked cop cars blend into traffic. Unmarked cars are sometimes difficult to identify. If an unmarked car tries to pull you over some would think that it wasn’t a cop because it has no marking. Unmarked cars can lead to people impersonating the police and abduction rates increase. Some people will not end up obeying the police orders if unmarked.
Overall, I personally do not have a problem with unmarked cop cars in a small town. I think in bigger cities it could become a problem with people impersonating them. I think they help control the streets and make towns safer.
Do you think unmarked cop cars should be banned? Why or why not?
Have you ever seen an unmarked police car do anything?
Do you think people would try impersonating police and abduction rates would increase?

I agree that they should not be banned, but limited in certain areas. In Harlan and other small towns, I feel like there would be very few problems. In the big cities though they could become more dangerous than good.
The point of having unmarked cops is to catch people being bad even when they don't see any authority around. If people are mad about these, they're clearly not happy with the chance that they'd get caught doing their stuff.
I don't think unmarked cop cars should be banned personally, but I do understand why people would feel nervous. Espcially during todays event I believe the one goal of the police department should be to make everyone feel safer with them around.
I don't like unmarked police cars. I think they're unnecessary since it can be obvious when unmarked cars are undercover. It is a better idea to just have marked police cars for the sake of other situations besides traffic. If you needed help and needed a police officer, unmarked police would be useless since we wouldn't know to turn to them for help.
I agree that their being unmarked may be an inconvenience. I think in other situations where you would need a cop them being unmarked wouldn't be good. Having them marked is better overall, but the unmarked ones don't bother me to much.
I personally don't like unmarked cop cars because if you were to get pulled over by them its harder to tell that they are police. I think that some people may try to impersonate the cops which would cause more abductions to maybe happen so that wouldn't be good. I think that the cops should just drive cars where you can tell they are cops.
I agree I feel that some people wouldn't feel safe when being pulled over by them because they're lots of scary people out in the world today. Cops that go unmarked can be frustrating for some people so I feel that having them marked is a safer choice.
Personally, I don't mind unmarked cops, I think that overall they're doing more help than hurt. However, I have not ever seen an unmarked police car do anything. I don't really believe that people would try to impersonate cops because the punishment would be so severe.
I agree that they do help some and don't hurt much. They don't bother me that much because I normally follow all the traffic rules. I've rarely ever seen an unmarked police car do anything, I normally just see them sitting.
I don't mind that there are umarked cops because it keeps people safer and it catches the people that go lke 70. Just don't go stupid fast and it isn't a big deal. I have seen people buy old cop cars and it is pretty sweet but close to impersonating a cop.
