Governor Gavon Newsom of California is now taking out the death penalty equipment in their main prison in California. He is doing this because he believes that when someone kills or rapes someone else, we should be the bigger ones and not do the same thing they did. He also said that we should be the better person.
Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not?
I think this is a good idea because I agree with him on being the better person.
Do you think killing people is a good punishment? Why?
No, I don't think killing people is a good punishment because why kill someone for making a mistake? Everyone makes mistakes. I think they should just put them in prison for a period fo time and then let them out, if they are suitable to be let out.

Great topic choice but your summary is very brief. Be sure to continue commenting throughout the entire week,
This is the worst idea I have ever heard of. Your telling me that if some of them terrorist that flew those boeing 747's into the twin towers and somehow by the grace of God surrvived, that we should'nt execute them right there on the spot? Of course they should, they deserve it for taking American lives.
Killing people is a great punishment. It's the same reason why we have laws. If people think they can do whatever they want and get away with it, thats how a country goes to crap. everyone running around rampant. I think we should have a law in place, called the "Eye for an eye" law. If you shoot someone because you felt like it, then the same should happen to you.
No I don't think that this is a good idea because the punishment should fit the crime, and someone being put to death doesn't make us any smaller or stoop to their level. Yes because there needs to be harsher punishment so more people don't commit similar crimes.
In some cases, the death penalty would be considered necessary so to speak. I think it would be ok to take away the penalty in for most crimes, but still keep it around for extreme cases. I don't completely agree with the death penalty, but it isn't used for people who just make mistakes. The death penalty is used for people who commit serious crimes.
I'm not sure, the death penalty is useful in some cases. Some serial killers that don't get the death penalty escape and kill more people. I think that is depends on the punishment.
I think it's a good idea because I think it is wrong to kill someone. Their life is in God's hands, not ours. If God wants them to be punished, that's his call, not ours.
No, if they killed someone, and you kill them as punishment, you are no different then the person you are putting to death.
I agree with you, but if someone killed your family member would you want them to face the death penalty? I proably would because they ended their life for no reason. But I don't completly agree with the death penalty.
1. I can see why the Governor of California would want to eliminate the death penalty, however, for the worst possible crimes committed I think that the death penalty might be the only good justification for the person's actions other than a life in prison.
2. I do not think that killing people is a good idea, but if they have killed people, then maybe the only way for justice to be met is to use the death penalty. Life in prison, in my opinion, would equal that of the death penalty by slowly rotting away in a cell till you eventually die.
I do think that it is a good idea to remove the death penalty. I don't think that killing people is a good punishment; two wrongs don't make a right. I think that they would be better off in prison and doing things like picking up trash.
I believe in giving them a second chance, but some things that people commit are not redeemable in my eyes. It's not really a punishment because prisons are already overcrowded, and it cost millions to put people in prison for life or just a couple of years.
