Should've the Washington Football Team changed their name?

Should've the Washington Football team  changed their name? The past couple of years have been a very controvesial subject for the NFL football team now calling themsleves the  Washington Commanders, after being just called the Wasington Football team. I personally beleive that the team owner should be able to call it whatever he wants too and that it shouldn't effect community. The team owenr should have the say in the team name since they are weatlhy enough to thave their own football theam. Also  I think that if someone wants to complain about the team name they shouldn't care because they didn't spend the money to have their own team, I think that everybody should be able to have thier own team if they can afford it. I know that if I don't like something or I don't agree with something I don't try to protest it I just don't keep liking it. I don't think that the people that didn't like the Redskins shouldn't be so judgemental of the team name and not take it as personal. I think that is how the world is becoming anymore that everyoone takes stuff way to personal that isn't supposed to be aimed for a cetain type of people .

 

I also believe that when colored people or african amercians do something that white people don't like isn't as big as a deal as when white people do something that might affend african americans. I don't think that someone would call their football team just to be racist. Some people do things to be racist but in this instance I don't believe that is the issue, especially when he knows that it is a major league football team and your gonna want people to like your football team so why would someone name their team something that is going to cause people to dislike them. Not everybody is going to like everything that everybody else likes which is apart of life just like life is fair to everybody and that is just how it goes.  I don't think that someting should be messed with in changing the name especially when they have had that name forever. The only reason that it is a big deal is colored people don't like it. Also colored people think that they can do what ever they want even if it is illegal and think that they can get away with it. If the country would have stopped all this from the start they wouldn't think that they have all the power that they think they have.

 I also don't know why the teams sponsors would choose to not sponsor them anymore because they have had that name forever. I know that some people might stop going to the games for a little while however they aren't going to lose everybody. Somepeople aren't going to be affended because they know it wasn't aimed to be racist at anybody. I know that if I was a fan of a team like the Red Skins I would still go to their games because I know that they didn't choose their name to make others upset. Also why would the owner choose a name that would make his team lose money. I don't think any team owner would think of a name that would upset people enough that they wouldn't want to support them. There are lots of teams that have names like the Red Skins like the Kansas CIty Chiefs and no one is complaining about their team name. However I could potentially see them being the next team that is going to be criticized which is dumb. I don't know why the Washington team needs to change their name when all the others are the same. People need to relize their not the only team that have a name like that and that is what people like and they shouldn't have to change it to make money. Everyone has a say they should be able to keep the team name if they want and if someone has a problem with it they should just stay away from it.

I think that they shouldn't have changed their name, but I understand why they had to change it. I don't believe that their name was meant to be racist. Also, I don't think that other teams should have to change their name because of their history in the sport.

I do not think it was reasonable to chage it's name. The logo was used for a long time and was not bein gused to be offensive. I think the previous name, the Redskins was meant to honor them and not to be racist. Even after changing the name people who are familiar with them will still call them the Redskins because that is what they are used to.

I do not think the team should have changed their name. I think that the team meant no harm or disresect. Although I don't think they needed to they did and I understand why. They are a true NFL team and can't afford hate and negative press.

I agree with you that it isn't meant to be disrespectful to anybody and that people shouldn't be so hurt by things that are said because they're not meant to make the people mad even though some people think they are which is dumb because they aren't.

I think that they should not have changed there name. There name was not racist. They had that name and logo for a long time and because someones feelings got hurt dosen't mean they have to change it. The sponsers that were supporting them wanted the name change and that is 100 of millions of dallars.

I don't think that they needed to change their name. I don't think that the name was meant to be racist or was even racist anyway. I feel like it's a bigger deal because white people are doing it and people of color are the mad ones. If it was the other way around I think it would've been less of a problem which is messed up.

I agree with you that its the white people that created the name and that the colored people are the ones that are made at it. They just want more and more atttention constantly and its dumb that people are still giving them all their attention and their thriving on that.

I think the Redskins was a fine name. I am probably still going to call them the Redskins because I am used to it. I don't think it was racist towards Native Americans. I am not a big fan of the Washington Commanders, but I am sure it will grow on me eventually.

I don't think the Washington football team should have changed their name from the Redskins. I still call them the Washington Redskins because it is what I am used to calling them by. I believe that the name Redskins honored the Native Americans rather than being racist towards them. Yet, they still changed it due to popular belief that the name was offensive and racist.
