Should TikTok be banned?
Recently, there has been a lot of controversy on if TikTok should be banned or not. Some people find it necessary and some people think the complete opposite. The house of representatives recently passed a bill to ban TikTok. Originally, it was Donald Trump’s idea to ban TikTok. It was Joe Biden who was somewhat against the ban. Now, it is the opposite. Donald Trump promises not to ban TikTok if he wins the 2024 presidential election and Joe Biden is trying to take TikTok away. It was unanimously approved by the Energy and Commerce Committee with a vote of 50 to 0.
More than 150 million Americans use TikTok and both people who use it and don’t are wondering if it is safe. Like all social media apps of course there are scams for things like followers, romance, and investment scams. One thing about Tik Tok is it doesn’t secure your information like Facebook does, which makes it untrustworthy and dangerous.
If TikTok was banned, influencers all around the world would lose all followers and would have to start all over on platforms like Instagram and Facebook, which could be banned in the future as well. Shira, a TikTok influencer says, "TikTok has cultivated a huge community of people who discuss politics and current affairs without it being altered by propaganda. A lot of us just want to know the truth. The whole TikTok ban is clearly a tactic to control the narrative." Brandon Hurst, another influencer says, “These representatives and senators don’t understand that what they’re doing won’t just harm people they call ‘content creators.’ It would hurt small businesses.” Personally, I agree. I think that a lot of people have made a living off of TikTok. Especially because of a new feature on TikTok called, “TikTok shop” which gives creators the ability to sell their own items which TikTok then offers coupons for making it more affordable, which equals out to more people buying.

I do not think that Tiktok should be banned and that it should be kept.I go on tiktok at least once a day, but not for that long. I feel Tiktok is safe to use as long as you don't put super secrect and important personal information into the app.
I don't think that it needs to be banned because it is a good source of entertainment, and it also is very popular. I don't personally have tiktok, however I don't see much harm in using it. If the government is worried about the saftey of American's data, they should leave the choice up to the people.
I don't think that tiktok should be banned because it is good entertainment and you can learn different things from it, but I wouldn't really care if it did get banned. I use it a little, but not a whole lot. I started watching instagram more than tiktok and don't really care for tiktok that much.
I don't think TikTok should be banned because the repercussions of banning it could be really bad. I do use TikTok every so often, but I don't post anything. I think for the most part TikTok isn't unsafe but users should definitely be careful using it and should know when and when to not put personal information online.
I don't think TikTok should be banned mainly because you can get your information stolen on other apps too. I definetly use it a lot. I think that it depends on what you do on TikTok.
I don't think it should be banned because there would be a lot of unhappy Americans. I get that Tik tok can be bad but it also contains some very good information. Although, if we did figure out China was doing something bad with it I would be for banning it.
I don't think it should be banned it can be used as a useful source for information but can also have bad information. I do use tik tok quite often mostly when I'm at home but I also use it during school. Tik Tok definitely has its negatives but it also has positives.
I think that it dosn't really matter for me but I am sure that it matters a lot to some people but I mainly use instagram and I wouldn't mind if it got banned. I use tiktok a little. I think that there is nothing really wrong with tiktok.
I think TikTok shouldn't be banned because it has a big following and it pays people to post on their app which helps people make money on the side. I use TikTok every day because it has a lot of funny people on there and it helps me chill from the day.
