I believe that adding more gun laws puts the law biding citizen in more risk of danger. Considering the fact that the people that already by guns illegally will still get them illegally makes no sense adding more restrictions.
To add to the fact policy debates about the method of purchasing weapons and ammunition have developed in recent years. The issue has risen to the foreground of public debate as a result of mass shootings. Growing the age to buy a gun, requiring a federal background check before purchasing a gun, and increasing ammunition taxes to prevent their purchase have all been debated.
Increased restrictions supporters claim that the United States needs to regulate access to firearms and ammunition in order to minimize gun deaths in the country. Supporters of tighter controls believe the government should do more to reduce the likelihood of a shooting.
For more understanding on what laws have been put in place. Following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in 2012, a number of states and cities enacted stringent gun control legislation. State lawmakers in gun-friendly states in the South and West responded by passing legislation strengthening Stand Your Ground laws and allowing guns in most public places. 21 states passed legislation in 2014 that extended gun owners' rights, enabling them to own guns in public places churches, pubs, schools, and college campuses are all examples of this. Since the 1994 Brady Bill, the federal government has not enacted any gun control legislation, and assault weapons are still legal in 42 states. Two-thirds of all gun deaths in the United States are suicides, with 19,000 weapon suicides and 11,000 firearm murders in 2010.

Fine topic choice Braydin but this topic has been done before several times. You didn't reply to any students comments which is worth 30 points. -10 late
I think that in some cases having stricter gun laws can make a difference in a positive way. While I do understand that this won't stop criminals from purchasing guns illegally and some might argue that the laws would affect only law abiding citizens, sometimes the people who commit mass shooting weren't criminals before that, and maybe having more background checks and mental health checks could have stopped that from happening.
People are always going to get guns somehow. It doesn't make sense not to add gun restrictions because that wouldn't help either. I don't know what we can do except doing what we have already been doing. Increase taxes on ammunition. Requiring a bunch of information about that person. We need to get all the states on the same page to help stop gun violence and make an effort to do so.
I think that there should be more restrictions when you buy a gun, but banning guns completely is not a good idea. Doing a better background check and mental check before allowing someone to buy a gun would help because ultimately it's people who use guns for bad, it isn't the guns fault.
In my opinion, I think that the government could put more restrictions on guns. I think they would do this for the safety of the people of the United States. However, I do not think they should take guns away. It is a right for people of the United States to have guns. It is the second amendment. I think the government has no right taking guns away from law abiding citizens.
I think there should be more restrictions on the process of buying a gun but I don't like the idea of banning guns because it's not the guns that make the choose to kill someone its the person that pulls the trigger. So more in-depth background checks would be good though.
I think there should be some more restrictions on guns but I don't think they should be banned because people kill people not guns. I think there should be better background check and checks for mental health illnesses before someone buys a gun.
I think there should be more backround checks and mental health check before being able to purchase a gun. But if you have purchased a gun before and have no known bad history then you should be able to but a gun. Even with more restriction people will still get guns with bad intentions.
I think that gun laws should be tightened a bit, but definitely not taking away all guns or anything extreme like that. I just think that a proper background and mental health check would be good, so the gun isn't in the hands of a person looking to hurt themselves or others.
I believe they should have stricter gun laws but not completely take away the guns from people. A better background check should be ensued to decrease the rate of shootings. I believe that people don't need military grade rifles to protect themselves. Hunting rifles are fine because they are used for big animals that take a lot of distance and power to shoot. A handgun is great for protection and has enough fire power to knock down your attacker and stun them.
